Kia Carens Gets Dealer-Fitted CNG Option with Standard Warranty Coverage
Kia India has expanded the Carens lineup with the introduction of a CNG version. The setup is not factory-fitted but installed at authorised dealerships using a government-approved Lovato CNG kit. The company states that the installation follows manufacturer standards and does not affect the vehicle’s warranty.
Pricing and Warranty Details
The CNG option is available on the base Premium (O) petrol trim, priced at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG setup will cost around Rs 77,900 more than the standard petrol version. Despite being a dealer-installed system, the Carens CNG continues to carry Kia’s standard warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km.
Engine and Transmission
The Carens CNG uses the same 1.5-litre Smartstream four-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 113.1 bhp and 143.8 Nm of torque paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Kia also offers Carens with a 1.5L CRDI VGT diesel engine that puts out 113.9 bhp and 250 Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Interior and Seating Features
On the inside, Carens continues with a seven-seat layout and a two-tone black-and-beige interior with indigo accents. The second row features a 60:40 split with slide, recline and tumble options, while the third row has a 50:50 split and can be folded flat for additional storage. A one-touch electric tumble function allows easier access to the third row.
Infotainment and Safety Equipment
The MPV includes an eight-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, five USB Type-C charging ports and AC vents for all three rows. In terms if safety, it gets six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, vehicle stability management, downhill brake control, tyre pressure monitoring system and a Anti-theft alarm.
