Mahindra Crosses 30,000 Electric SUV Sales in 7 Months
Mahindra & Mahindra has announced through its social media handles that over 30,000 of its electric SUVs are now operating on Indian roads. The figure includes only electric SUV models and excludes petrol and diesel vehicles.
The development aligns with Mahindra’s “Unlimit India” initiative and its #ScreamElectric campaign to promote electric mobility awareness. Earlier in 2025, Mahindra crossed the 20,000-unit mark for its electric SUV range within five months and recorded more than 30,000 bookings for the XEV 9e and BE.06 combined in one day.
Upcoming XEV 9S to Join Mahindra’s EV Range
Recently, Mahindra confirmed that they are preparing for the world premiere of XEV 9S on November 27, 2025, at the brand’s ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru. The SUV will be built on the company’s INGLO skateboard platform, which allows a flat-floor design and flexible interior configuration. The XEV 9S will be Mahindra’s first seven-seat electric SUV, positioned above the XEV 9e in the lineup.
Expected Specifications and Platform Details
Although, Mahindra has not released any official technical specifications. The XEV 9S is expected to use an LFP battery pack supplied by BYD and an electric motor producing around 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. Range estimates could exceed 500 km, depending on the battery configuration. The SUV may offer two battery options — a 79 kWh pack with a range of up to 656 km and a 59 kWh pack with around 542 km. Final figures are yet to be confirmed.
Design and Market Position
Industry reports indicate that the XEV 9S could be based on the earlier XEV 7e prototype developed on the XUV700 platform. It may feature elements such as connected LED lighting, dual-pod headlamps, and a three-screen digital dashboard layout similar to the XEV 9e.
