New Audi Q3 SUV Debuts in India Ahead of Festive Season Launch
The Indian division of the German luxury automaker Audi has introduced the new-generation Q3 SUV in India ahead of its market launch. New Audi Q3: Design
The third-generation Audi Q3 gets a significantly sharper design compared to the outgoing model. The SUV now measures 4,531 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width and 1,623 mm in height, with a 2,681 mm wheelbase. The increase in dimensions gives the new Q3 a more substantial stance and is also expected to free up additional space inside the cabin.
At the front, the SUV gets a larger Audi Singleframe grille flanked by split LED headlamps. The lower bumper features a wide honeycomb-patterned air intake, along with contrasting elements that give the Q3 a more rugged appearance. The side profile gets body-coloured cladding, roof rails and dual-tone alloy wheels. An L-shaped chrome element runs along the beltline, while black trim around the rear quarter glass gives the roof a floating appearance. At the rear, the new Q3 features split tail-lamps connected by a full-width LED light bar. The Audi logo is illuminated and forms part of the new lighting treatment. A roof spoiler, sharply raked rear windscreen and sculpted bumper with silver-finished detailing round off the design.
The new Q3 also gets upgraded lighting technology, including digital Matrix LED headlamps and digital OLED rear lights in higher-spec configurations.
New Audi Q3: Cabin
The biggest transformation is inside the cabin. Audi has given the Q3 a completely redesigned dashboard with a more modern, technology-focused layout. The SUV gets an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel has also been redesigned, while the centre console has been reworked to make better use of the available space. One of the most noticeable changes is the placement of the gear selector. Audi has moved it to a stalk behind the steering wheel instead of placing it on the centre console. This frees up space between the front seats for additional storage and convenience features.
The equipment list is expected to include a panoramic sunroof, Sonos sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, paddle shifters and a 360-degree camera. The new Q3 also gets sliding and reclining rear seats. Boot capacity stands at 488 litres and can be increased to 1,386 litres with the rear seats folded.
New Audi Q3: Expected Powertrain
The India-spec Audi Q3 is expected to continue with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It produces 204PS of power and 320Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system is expected to be standard. The Q3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 229 kmph. Unlike some international markets where the Q3 is available with multiple powertrain options, including diesel and plug-in hybrid units, India is expected to get the petrol-powered version at launch.
New Audi Q3: Expected Safety Features
The new Audi Q3 is expected to come equipped with active and passive safety features like Level 2 ADAS along with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, front emergency braking and cross-traffic assist. Other key safety features can include - a 360-degree camera and automated parking functionality, a driver-monitoring system is available to detect signs of fatigue and distraction.
New Audi Q3: Expected Price & Launch
The third-generation Audi Q3 is expected to be launched in India during the festive season. The SUV will be locally assembled, which should help Audi maintain a competitive position in the segment. The company has not announced the final prices yet. However, the new Audi Q3 is expected to be positioned around Rs 40 lakh to Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
