Nissan's Triber-Based MPV to Make India Debut Today
Nissan is set to debut its new MPV in India today. The upcoming model will mark Nissan’s second shared product with Renault in India after the Magnite and Kiger compact SUVs.
The MPV was first announced in 2023 as part of Nissan’s future product plans. A preview of the model was shown earlier in March 2025.
Exterior design updates
Spy images of the test vehicle suggest that the Nissan MPV will retain the Triber’s sub-4-metre shape but feature several design changes. These are expected to include a more upright front profile, a revised grille with a hexagonal pattern, updated headlamp units, and a redesigned front bumper.
Changes are also expected at the rear, including a revised bumper and updated tail-lamp elements. New alloy wheel designs may also be offered. Despite these updates, the overall body structure and proportions appear similar to the Triber.
Interior layout and seating options
On the inside, the MPV is expected to offer the same flexible seating layout as the Triber, with 5-, 6- and 7-seat configurations. The dashboard design is likely to be similar to the Triber’s layout, though Nissan may introduce different upholstery and interior colour themes to set it apart from its Renault sibling.
features and safety
The upcoming MPV is expected to offer a feature list similar to the Triber. This may include a 7-inch digital or semi-digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, push-button start, and manual air conditioning with rear vents.
On the safety front, the MPV could get six airbags as standard, along with front and rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a rear parking camera.
Engine and transmission options
The Nissan MPV is expected to use the same 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine found in the Renault Triber. This engine produces 71bhp and 95Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. A CNG option may also be offered, similar to the Triber, with the kit expected to be installed at dealership level.
The new MPV could be named Nissan Gravite
Possible name and positioning
The new MPV could be named Nissan Gravite, as the company had filed a trademark for this name in 2023. Once launched, it will expand Nissan’s limited portfolio in India and target buyers looking for an affordable, compact MPV.
