VinFast Rasad Electric Maxi-Scooter Patent Filed in India: Likely to Launch Soon
VinFast is exploring the Indian electric two-wheeler market by filing a design patent for the Rasad electric maxi-scooter, recently unveiled in Vietnam.
VinFast Rasad Electric Maxi-Scooter Patent Filed in India: Likely to Launch Soon
VinFast could be looking to strengthen its presence in India’s growing electric two-wheeler market. The Vietnamese EV maker has filed a design patent in India for the Rasad electric maxi-scooter, a model that was unveiled in Vietnam earlier this year. While the patent does not confirm an India launch, it suggests that VinFast is evaluating more electric two-wheelers for the Indian market.
The Rasad joins other VinFast electric two-wheelers that have recently received design protection in India, including the Viper electric scooter and an electric motorcycle believed to be based on the Sulad concept.
Key Highlights:
- VinFast has filed a design patent for the Rasad electric maxi-scooter in India.
- The Rasad was unveiled in Vietnam earlier this year.
- It could get a 7.1kW electric motor with a claimed top speed of 100kmph.
- VinFast has not confirmed the scooter’s India launch, pricing or specifications.
VinFast Rasad Maxi-Scooter: Design
The VinFast Rasad gets the proportions of a maxi-scooter but features a sharper and more angular design. The scooter has a muscular front section, a tall windscreen, chunky tyres and a stepped seat.
Its underbone-style design gives it a stance similar to models such as the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Honda ADV160. The patent images also show a telescopic front fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Braking hardware includes disc brakes at both ends. The scooter also appears to feature a large floorboard and a wide seat, suggesting a focus on rider comfort and practicality.
VinFast Maxi-Scooter: Expected Powertrain
VinFast has not revealed the final specifications of the Rasad. However, during its Vietnam unveiling, the company indicated that the electric maxi-scooter could use a centrally mounted electric motor producing up to 7.1kW of power.
The company has claimed a top speed of 100kmph. Details such as battery capacity, riding range and charging time have not yet been revealed.
Will VinFast Rasad Launch in India?
VinFast has not confirmed an India launch for the Rasad. However, the latest patent filing comes as the company continues to explore its electric two-wheeler portfolio for the Indian market.
The Rasad was unveiled alongside the Sadie and Saxil as part of VinFast's higher-end electric two-wheeler range. The company has also indicated that its broader electric motorcycle portfolio will cover multiple segments and price points.
If introduced in India, the Rasad could enter the emerging electric maxi-scooter segment, where buyers are increasingly looking for a combination of performance, range and everyday practicality. However, its India-specific pricing, specifications and production plans are yet to be announced.
For now, the design patent should be viewed as an indication of VinFast's interest in the Indian market rather than confirmation of a launch. More details on the Rasad's India plans are expected only if the company decides to bring the electric maxi-scooter to the country.
