Ola Electric Launched Roadster Series Motorcycle; Teases New Models

Ola Electric has expanded its portfolio by launching three electric motorcycles—Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro—marking the company's entry into the electric motorcycle segment. The starting prices for these models are Rs 74,999 for the Roadster X, Rs 1,04,999 for the Roadster and Rs 1,99,999 for the Roadster Pro. The company also hinted at two upcoming models, the Sportster and Arrowhead.

At the Sankalp 2024 event held at Ola’s Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, the company also showcased its new Bharat 4680 cell and announced that these cells will be integrated into Ola’s electric vehicles starting from Q1 FY26. These cells, currently in trial production, are designed to provide five times more energy compared to the 2170 form-factor cells commonly used in EVs today. The integration of these cells is expected to improve efficiency and reduce production costs for Ola’s electric vehicles.

The newly introduced motorcycles are built on Ola's scalable and modular platform, offering a range of features tailored to different market segments. The Roadster X, aimed at entry-level riders, is equipped with a peak motor output of 11 kW and offers a maximum speed of 124 kmph. The Roadster, designed for commuters, features a 13 kW motor and provides a range of up to 248 km. The high-performance Roadster Pro, with a peak power output of 52 kW, boasts a top speed of 194 kmph and a range of 579 km.

In addition to the motorcycles, Ola introduced its Gen-3 platform, which will serve as the foundation for future electric vehicles. The company also provided a preview of MoveOS 5, the latest iteration of its operating system, which will include new features like Group Navigation, Live Location Sharing, and Road Trip Mode. MoveOS 5 will be available to users via an over-the-air update by Diwali 2024.

The pricing and availability details for the Roadster series have been released. The Roadster X model, which features three battery options, starts at Rs 74,999 for the 2.5 kWh variant, Rs 84,999 for the 3.5 kWh variant, and goes up to Rs 99,999 for the 4.5 kWh variant. The standard Roadster model is priced at Rs 1,04,999 for the 3.5 kWh variant, Rs 1,19,999 for the 4.5 kWh variant, and Rs 1,39,999 for the 6 kWh variant. Additionally, the Roadster Pro, which comes with an 8 kWh variant priced at Rs 1,99,999 and a 16 kWh variant priced at Rs 2,49,999, Bookings starts today, with deliveries set for Q4 FY26. Roadster X and Roadster Bookings start today and deliveries planned for Q4 FY25.

Reservation for the Roadster series begins today, with deliveries for the Roadster X and Roadster scheduled for Q4 FY25, while the Roadster Pro will be delivered in Q4 FY26. All models come with an 8-year battery warranty, and customers can use Ola’s existing charging network.
