Bhavish Aggarwal Sells Ola Electric Shares to Repay Promoter-Level Loan

Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder of Ola Electric Mobility Ltd, sold shares worth Rs 2.6 crore of the company through a bulk deal on December 16, according to stock exchange filings. The shares represent around 0.6 percent of the company’s equity.
The transaction was carried out at an average price of Rs 34.99 per share, valuing the deal at approximately Rs 92 crore. As of September 2025, Aggarwal held a 30.02 percent stake in the electric two-wheeler manufacturer.

Use of Proceeds and Pledge Release

In a statement, Ola Electric said the sale was a one-time monetisation of the founder’s personal shareholding to repay a promoter-level loan amounting to Rs 260 crore. Following the repayment, all previously pledged shares, accounting for 3.93 percent of the company’s equity, will be released.
The company stated that the transaction was executed at the promoter’s personal level and does not impact Ola Electric’s operations, governance, or strategic plans.

Promoter Shareholding After the Transaction

After the stake sale, the promoter group will continue to hold around 34 percent in Ola Electric. The company said there is no change in promoter control or long-term ownership structure following the transaction.

Financial Performance Context

The stake sale comes amid pressure on the company’s revenue performance. In its September quarter results for FY26, Ola Electric reported net sales of Rs 690 crore, marking a 43 percent decline compared with the same quarter last year.
However, losses narrowed on a year-on-year basis. The company reported a net loss of Rs 418 crore for the quarter, compared with a loss of Rs 495 crore in the corresponding period last year. Ola Electric also reported an improvement in EBITDA margins in its auto segment, reflecting changes in operating efficiency.
