Honda Civic Type R HRC, Prelude HRC and Civic e:HEV RS to be Showcased at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026
Japanese automaker Honda has announced details of its booth for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, which will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. This event is scheduled to take place from January 9th to 11th, 2026. The display will include concept models, prototypes and racing cars linked to Honda’s motorsports activities.
The information shared by the company outlines that this booth will be organised under the theme 'Honda Sports DNA'. According to the company, the theme is intended to show how motorsport programmes influence vehicle development. The exhibit will focus on models developed with inputs from Honda Racing Corporation and cars used in domestic racing series.
Honda will host the world premiere of the Honda Civic Type R HRC Concept. The model is based on the Civic Type R and has been developed by Honda Racing Corporation (HRC). The concept uses knowledge from racing activities to revise the standard car’s driving-related components.
Also making its first public debut will be the Honda Prelude HRC Concept. This concept is derived from the new-generation Prelude that went on sale in September 2025 and features HRC-supplied parts aimed at altering the driving setup.
Another debut planned for the show is the Honda Civic e:HEV RS Prototype. This introduces the RS grade for the Civic e:HEV. It will be the second Honda model to use the S+ Shift control system, following the Prelude.
The racing section of the booth will feature the Honda HRC Prelude-GT, a GT500-class car that is scheduled to compete in the Super GT Series 2026 season.
Honda will also set up a racing simulator developed using the Honda NSX-GT, which previously competed in the Super GT series until the 2019 season.
The Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 booth will bring together Honda’s upcoming concept vehicles and its current and past racing machinery under a single display.
