Mahindra is all set to unveil its much-awaited Scorpio N Pik Up truck on August 14. Two days ahead of the official reveal, the company has released a teaser, giving us a closer look at the upcoming lifestyle pickup. First showcased in concept form in 2023, the production-spec model is expected to bring a more rugged and modern interpretation of the Scorpio N platform.
Key Highlights:
- Mahindra has teased the upcoming Scorpio N-based Pik Up ahead of its August 14 unveil.
- The Pik Up gets a more futuristic design with L-shaped LED DRLs and a new cabin.
- It is expected to use the Scorpio N’s 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines.
- Prices are expected to start at around Rs 20 lakh, putting it against the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pik Up: Design
While the upcoming Pik Up shares its roots with the Scorpio N, Mahindra appears to have given it a significantly different design. The front fascia looks more futuristic, featuring L-shaped LED DRLs and a sleek LED headlamp setup.
The lower section of the front bumper gets vertically stacked fog lamps, adding to the Pik Up's rugged and off-road-focused character. While the overall shape does retain some resemblance to the Scorpio N, the new styling helps the Pik Up stand apart from its SUV sibling.
The side profile gets the traditional boxy Pik Up silhouette, with a familiar front section inspired by the Scorpio N. At the rear, the Pik Up features a bold tailgate with prominent Mahindra branding and vertically positioned LED tail lamps.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pik Up: Interior
The Scorpio N Pik Up will also get a substantially different cabin compared to the regular SUV. The latest teaser reveals a large vertically oriented touchscreen dominating the dashboard, along with a new climate control panel positioned underneath it.
The driver gets a floating digital instrument display, which appears to be similar to the 10.25-inch unit seen in other Mahindra models. Another major change is the new steering wheel, which has a more modern and angular design.
The cabin is expected to feature a black-themed leatherette finish and should offer decent space for a family, thanks to its dual-cab layout.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pik Up: Expected Features and Safety
The Scorpio N Pik Up is expected to borrow several features from the SUV. These could include keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, cruise control and multiple drive modes.
Other expected features include a wireless charger, connected car technology, a single-pane sunroof and a Sony sound system.
On the safety front, the Pik Up could get six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, Level 2 ADAS, a 540-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS and rain-sensing wipers.
The Scorpio N has already secured a 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests. It remains to be seen how the new Pik Up performs when it undergoes Bharat NCAP testing.
Scorpio N Pik Up: Expected Engine Options
The upcoming Mahindra Pik Up is expected to use the same engine options as the Scorpio N. These are likely to include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine.
A 4WD system is also expected to be offered, making the Pik Up more capable on rough terrain and suitable for off-road adventures. More details about the exact power and torque outputs for the Pik Up are expected to be revealed at the August 14 unveil.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pik Up: Expected Price and Rivals
The Mahindra Scorpio N Pik Up is expected to be priced from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will enter a relatively small segment in India and is likely to compete with the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross.
With its Scorpio N-based platform, modern cabin and expected 4WD capability, the new Pik Up could give Mahindra a strong presence in India's lifestyle Pik Up truck segment.
