Nissan’s upcoming midsize SUV, the Tekton, has once again grabbed attention online after a new spy image surfaced showing the model’s rear design without any camouflage. The image, shared by a user on social media, appears to show the SUV during a possible TVC (television commercial) shoot, giving a closer look at its production-ready design.
Key Highlights:
- New spy image shows the
Nissan Tekton ’s undisguised rear, featuring a full-width LED light bar and connected tail lamps. - The spy shot appears to be from an official advertisement shoot, with a camera-equipped vehicle visible in the background.
- The Tekton is likely to share engines with the Renault Duster, including a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol.
Although the image looks sharper than a regular spy shot and may have been enhanced using AI, several details suggest that it could be a genuine photo. The presence of another vehicle with a camera setup in the background hints that the Tekton might have been photographed while being filmed for an official advertisement.
Nissan Tekton: Rear Design Details
The rear styling of the Tekton closely matches the design elements shown in Nissan’s official teasers. The SUV gets a full-width LED light bar that connects the LED tail lamps on both sides, creating a modern look. The Nissan logo sits in the centre, while the TEKTON name is clearly displayed across the lower section of the tailgate.Other visible design highlights include a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated stop lamp, a rear wiper positioned below the spoiler, a shark-fin antenna and a silver skid plate-like element on the rear bumper. Vertical reflectors placed near the bumper corners add to the SUV’s rugged appearance.
Overall, the design gives the Tekton an upright and muscular stance, supporting Nissan’s positioning of the model as a premium midsize SUV.
Nissan Tekton: Platform and Expected Features
The Tekton will share its underpinnings with the new-generation Renault Duster. However, Nissan is expected to give its SUV a distinct identity with unique styling elements and a different cabin design. The interior is likely to feature Nissan-specific touches along with a different equipment list compared to the Duster.
Nissan Tekton: Expected Engine Options
The Nissan Tekton is expected to use the same powertrain options as the Renault Duster. The entry-level variants could come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing around 100 PS and 160 Nm, paired with a manual gearbox.Higher variants are expected to feature a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine generating around 163 PS and 280 Nm. This engine could be offered with both manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
A strong hybrid version is also expected to arrive after the initial launch. It could use a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor, similar to Renault’s E-Tech hybrid technology. Local production of hybrid components could help Nissan keep costs under control and make the hybrid SUV more competitive in the market.
Nissan Tekton: Rivals
With its rugged styling, shared Renault-Nissan platform and multiple powertrain options, the Tekton is expected to become an important model for Nissan in the growing midsize SUV segment.Given its size, powertrain and segment targeting, its primary rivals include Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Tata Sierra, Tata Curvv, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate.
