Production-Spec BMW F 450 GS Unveiled at EICMA 2025

German automaker, BMW on Tuesday unveiled the F 450 GS at EICMA 2025, specifically addressing the 47.3 bhp A2 class with proven GS technology and design. The company gave a preview of a GS model already in 2024, which specifically addresses the growing market segment of medium-sized displacement motorcycles. The series version of the BMW F 450 GS is a versatile all-rounder that combines everyday usability, sporty dynamic performance, touring comfort, and off-road capabilities.

BMW F 450 GS: Engine and Performance

The BMW F 450 GS gets a completely redesigned, characterful two-cylinder in-line engine. The fuel-injected unit features a stainless-steel exhaust system and delivers a maximum power output of 47.3 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm from its 420cc displacement, making it one of the most compact and powerful engines in its A2-segment class, meeting EU5+ requirements while being highly economical, consuming just 3.8 liters per 100 km and offering a range over 350 km with the 14L tank.

Additionally, a unique feature is the engine crankshaft with a 135-degree crankpin offset, combined with a single balance shaft, which provides great ride quality while keeping unwanted vibrations low. The engine pairs with a new six-speed transmission. The optional Shift Assistant Pro allows for upshifts and downshifts.

BMW F 450 GS: Easy Ride Clutch (ERC)

A technical highlight of the F 450 GS is the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), a centrifugal clutch system. Standard on the GS Trophy variant and optional for others, the ERC entirely removes the need for manual clutch operation during normal riding, including starting, gear changes, and off-road maneuvers.
The ERC system engages and disengages based on engine speed and remains closed during overrun, ensuring natural handling. It keeps the engine brake fully active until before a stop, preventing the engine from stalling.

BMW F 450 GS: Chassis, Safety, and Equipment

The F 450 GS features a new chassis built around a specially developed tubular steel lattice frame for optimal rigidity and agility. It is equipped with KYB upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a KYB central spring strut at the rear. The Sport and GSapS Trophy variants feature a ‘sports suspension’ with adjustable rebound and compression damping.
The F 450 GS’ braking system with Brembo calipers and standard BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, which provides increased safety when braking while leaning. Standard electronic aids include three riding modes (Rain, Road, Enduro), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and engine drag torque control (MSR). An additional Enduro Pro mode is available on higher trims, tailored for off-road use.

Ergonomics are optimized for both on- and off-road riding, supported by an advanced ergonomic triangle and a variety of optional seat heights and handlebar risers. A large, standard 6.5-inch TFT display offers comprehensive connectivity, including media control and navigation, with displays like the ‘Sport Screen’ providing real-time data on lean angle and braking force. The F 450 GS is available in four attractive variants: Basis, Exclusive, Sport (in Racing Red), and the top-of-the-line Trophy (in Racing Blue Metallic) which includes the ERC system and sports suspension.
