Renault Duster Hybrid Bookings Open in India Ahead of October 17 Launch

Renault is preparing to take on the strong hybrid SUV segment in India with the new Duster E-Tech 160. The company opened bookings for the hybrid version of the SUV on October 9, ahead of its official launch on October 17, 2026. With a claimed fuel efficiency of 29 km/l and a combined power output of 160 PS, the new Duster aims to offer a balance of performance and fuel savings.

Customers can book the Renault Duster E-Tech 160 online through the company's official website or at authorised dealerships by paying a booking amount of Rs 21,000. Renault has yet to announce the price of the hybrid SUV.

The Renault Duster E-Tech 160 gets a strong hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The system produces a combined output of 160 PS. The SUV uses a multi-mode transmission that manages the power delivery between the petrol engine and electric motors according to driving conditions. It can also recover energy during deceleration to recharge the battery.

The hybrid system is self-charging, which means owners do not need to plug the SUV into an external power source to charge its battery. Renault says the technology is designed to improve fuel efficiency while retaining the performance expected from a mid-size SUV.

The Duster E-Tech 160 will also mark the debut of Renault's E-Tech hybrid technology in India.

Renault currently prices the Duster petrol range between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.69 lakh. The company has not announced the price of the new strong hybrid variant yet. The official pricing is expected to be revealed at the launch on October 17, 2026.

The Duster E-Tech 160 will enter a segment where the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder already offer strong hybrid powertrains. Its pricing will be an important factor in determining how competitive it is against these established rivals.
