Renault Triber Turbo Launched at Rs 7.84 Lakh: What’s New?

Renault Triber Energy MT Emotion Renault Turbo Energy MTRsRsThe Renault Triber has been known for offering seven-seat practicality at a relatively affordable price, but its naturally aspirated petrol engine has always left room for improvement in terms of performance. Renault has now addressed that gap with the launch of the new Triber TCe100, bringing a turbocharged petrol engine to the subcompact MPV for the first time.

Priced between Rs 7.84 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Renault Triber Turbo is available in three variants. Bookings are now open, while the naturally aspirated version will continue to be sold alongside it.

The biggest change is under the bonnet. The Triber TCe100 gets a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 99bhp and 180Nm. It is currently offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Renault claims a fuel efficiency figure of 21 kmpl for the turbo-petrol version. The additional torque is expected to make the MPV more suitable for carrying passengers and luggage, particularly on highways and inclines.

Renault has made several changes to the Triber's underlying platform to accommodate the new engine. The MPV now uses the Renault Global Entry Platform (RGEP), which has also been designed to support future powertrain and technology upgrades. The platform has been reinforced for improved rigidity, while Renault has made provisions for a turbo-CVT and CNG powertrain. These versions are expected to arrive in 2027.

The Triber Turbo also gets mechanical changes to handle the higher output. Renault has revised the suspension with new springs, shock absorbers and other components.

Anti-roll bars have been added at both the front and rear. The braking and electronic systems have also been recalibrated, including ABS, traction control and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC).

There are no major changes to the cabin of the Triber Turbo. The MPV continues with its 5+2 seating layout, offering a more spacious second row, while the third row is better suited for children. The third-row seats can also be removed, increasing the boot capacity to 625 litres. Equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a cooled glovebox and multiple storage areas.

The Triber remains one of the few compact MPVs offering seven seats in this price range. It does not have a direct rival, although its turbo-petrol variants overlap with some versions of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Rumion and Mahindra Bolero.

With the new turbocharged engine, Renault is looking to make the Triber more capable without moving away from its focus on affordability and practicality.
