Tata Punch HBX Teased Ahead of Launch, What's New in Rugged Micro SUV?

Tata Motors has once again teased the Punch HBX, hinting that the rugged version of its popular micro SUV could arrive in the Indian market soon.
The adventure-themed model has appeared again on Tata Motors’ official website and social media platforms, months after it was first showcased. However, the company has not revealed the launch date or started bookings yet.

Tata Punch HBX: Design and Features

The Tata Punch HBX was first showcased in early 2026 as a more rugged-looking version of the updated Punch. Unlike a major mechanical upgrade, the HBX edition mainly focuses on adding styling enhancements to give the SUV a more adventurous appeal.
The exterior gets several changes, including all-terrain tyres mounted on black 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, redesigned front and rear bumpers with Armour Guard skid plates and wider wheel arches.
Tata has also added side cladding, a blacked-out roof and ORVMs, silver accents on the front bumper, a rear spoiler with an air-shield design, and a roof carrier to enhance its rugged look.
Inside the cabin, the Punch HBX is expected to remain similar to the standard Punch. The interior layout and features are likely to be carried forward without major changes.

Tata Punch HBX: Engine and Performance

The Punch HBX is expected to be powered by Tata’s 1.2-litre iTurbo petrol engine. This engine produces 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque and is likely to come paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The turbo-petrol setup is expected to offer stronger performance and quicker acceleration compared to the standard naturally aspirated version.
The Punch is already equipped with several safety features, including six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, auto-dimming IRVM, tyre pressure monitoring system (iTPMS), automatic headlamps with rain-sensing wipers, blind view monitor, front fog lamps and cornering function.

Tata Punch HBX: Expected Price and Launch Details

The Tata Punch HBX could be introduced as a limited-edition model or may be offered as a factory-fitted accessory package for buyers looking for a more rugged appearance.
Currently, the Tata Punch is priced from Rs 5.65 lakh (ex-showroom) for the naturally aspirated petrol version, while the turbo-petrol variant starts at Rs 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Since the HBX is expected to be positioned as a premium adventure-focused version, it could carry a higher price tag than the standard models.
For now, the Punch HBX remains a showcased concept with added accessories. Tata Motors is expected to share more details about its production version, pricing and launch timeline in the coming months.
