The Tata Sierra is expected to offer multiple engine options, including a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, and a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine. The diesel engine is similar to what powers the Harrier and Safari, providing around 167.7 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. This variety allows the Sierra to cater to a broader audience, much like its siblings.
The Tata Sierra is expected to be competitively priced, starting around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara, which are all in a similar price range. This positioning is strategic for Tata to capture market share in the growing mid-size SUV segment.
The Tata Sierra features a modern interior design with a black-and-grey theme, integrating three screens on the dashboard for digital display and infotainment. This is a step up from the Harrier and Safari, which also have advanced features but may not offer the same level of screen integration. The Sierra will also include dual-zone climate control and Level-2 ADAS for enhanced safety.
The upcoming petrol versions of the Tata Harrier and Safari are expected to retain advanced safety features such as 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS, similar to their diesel counterparts. This aligns with Tata's commitment to safety, ensuring that both models meet high standards in crash protection and driver assistance technology, appealing to safety-conscious consumers.
The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine expected in the Harrier and Safari is anticipated to produce around 165-170 bhp and 275-300 Nm of torque. This engine will offer both automatic and manual transmission options, enhancing the driving experience and performance compared to the existing diesel variants.
