Vespa Celebrates 80 Years; Introduces Limited Edition Edizione Ottantesimo Scooter

Vespa has completed 80 years and to mark the milestone, the Italian brand has introduced a special anniversary model called the Edizione Ottantesimo. Based on the Vespa GTS 310, this limited-edition scooter was showcased at the “80 Years of an Icon” event in Rome. Only 1,946 units will be produced worldwide, a number that represents the year Vespa was first introduced in 1946.
The anniversary edition is designed as a collector’s model and focuses on one of Vespa’s biggest design elements - its signature steel monocoque body. However, the special edition is based on the GTS 310 and is not expected to launch in India.
The Edizione Ottantesimo uses the regular GTS 310 as a base but gets a unique finish inspired by raw steel. The design highlights Vespa’s long-standing connection with its steel body construction, which has remained one of the brand’s strongest identities over the decades.
The scooter gets a premium-looking steel-effect finish along with green detailing. According to Vespa, the green shade pays tribute to some of the earliest single-colour models from the brand’s history. The colour can be seen on the seat and wheels, while the side panels feature a special three-dimensional “80” graphic.
The anniversary logo design also takes inspiration from Vespa’s hexagonal emblem and the shape of mechanical fasteners, adding a handmade and classic touch to the scooter.

Vespa Edizione Ottantesimo: Design and details

The special edition gets a single-seater-inspired look with a removable rear cover finished in the same colour as the body. This design is inspired by racing-style tail fairings seen on older sporty Vespas. Despite the styling changes, the seat remains approved for two riders.
The seat features horizontal heat-welded seams and matching stitching, adding to the premium feel. The redesigned wheels also borrow styling cues from the original 1946 Vespa 98, with a pressed metal-inspired design and diamond-finished rims.

Vespa Edizione Ottantesimo: Mechanical and cosmetic specs

Powering the Edizione Ottantesimo is the same 310 hpe (High Performance Engine) from the GTS 310. The single-cylinder motor produces around 25 bhp, making it the most powerful engine ever offered on a Vespa.
The scooter comes equipped with modern features including full LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT colour display, and the Vespa MIA connectivity system. It also gets a keyless system along with additional convenience features such as courtesy lights on the front shield and under-seat storage area.
Vespa will also offer a range of matching accessories for the Edizione Ottantesimo. These include a 36-litre top box with an optional padded backrest finished in the same material and colour as the seat.
Other accessories include front and rear luggage racks, protective bars, fairings, windscreens and an electronic anti-theft system. Vespa has also created a matching anniversary helmet with the same steel-inspired finish, green accents and the “80” graphic theme.
