Positioning and Size
The Tayron is longer and slightly wider than the standard Tiguan sold in India. It is designed to offer three rows of seating and is expected to serve as a replacement for the Tiguan Allspace, which was discontinued in 2021. While it shares its basic design language with the Tiguan, the Tayron features changes to the profile and rear section, indicating a distinct model rather than a simple extended version.

Exterior Details
The teaser highlights full-width LED lighting elements at both the front and rear. The rear light bar and tail lamp signature appear different from the Tiguan R-Line currently sold in India. Test vehicles seen earlier also suggest a longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row.
Latest versions of the Tayron feature revised bumpers, a different grille design and a unique lighting signature, all of which are expected to be carried over to the India-spec model.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Tayron is expected to follow a layout similar to the Tiguan, with an added third row. Expected features include a large touchscreen measuring around 15 inches, a digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, nine airbags and an eight-speaker audio system. Globally, the Tayron offers a boot space of around 345 litres with all three rows in use, which can be expanded by folding the third row.
Engine and Mechanical Setup
The Tayron for India is expected to use a 2.0L, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing around 204 PS and 320 Nm. This engine is also used in the Skoda Kodiaq. Power is likely to be sent through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive expected as standard. There is also the possibility of local assembly at Volkswagen Group’s facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, similar to the Kodiaq.
Expected Price and Rivals
The Tiguan R-Line currently priced at Rs 45.73 lakh e-showroom. Based on this, the Tayron is expected to be priced at around Rs 60 lakh. In the Indian market, it will compete with other premium three-row SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and MG Gloster.
