Xiaomi SkyNomad Electric SUV Series Unveiled, Launch Announced for Chinese Market

Xiaomi has unveiled the SkyNomad SUV series, expanding its vehicle portfolio beyond the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. The new range has been developed with a focus on cabin flexibility and passenger comfort, targeting buyers looking for a vehicle that can adapt to multiple everyday requirements.
Unlike the SU7 and YU7, which are positioned as driver-focused models, the SkyNomad has been designed around interior space and versatility. Xiaomi says the SUV can function as a family vehicle, workspace, lounge or travel companion depending on how the cabin is configured.
The biggest highlight of the SkyNomad is its reconfigurable interior. The company showcased multiple layouts, including a bedroom with a lie-flat bed, a mobile office, a dining setup, a meeting space and a conventional passenger configuration with additional luggage room. Xiaomi also says the cabin can be transformed into a living room, studio or play area, depending on user requirements.
Underpinning the new SUV series is Xiaomi's newly developed Kunlun Architecture. The platform features a flat-floor design with a long-track rail system that allows seats and interior modules to be repositioned. Xiaomi says the architecture has also been designed to support its AI capabilities, connected ecosystem and smart technologies.
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the SkyNomad project was conceived after the company noticed changing customer expectations from modern vehicles. He said buyers increasingly prefer features such as sofa-style seating, refrigerators and large displays, while many also use their vehicles as temporary workspaces or resting spaces during long commutes and road trips.
Xiaomi says the SkyNomad has been under development for around three-and-a-half years. The SUV has been created for customers who want a single vehicle capable of handling family travel, business use and everyday commuting without compromising on interior usability.
Although Xiaomi has not revealed technical specifications, it is also expected to measure over 5.2 metres in length and deliver a claimed driving range of more than 1,000 km. Teaser images further reveal a large central touchscreen along with a dedicated display for rear passengers.
The company has not yet announced pricing, powertrain specifications or the launch timeline for the SkyNomad series. However the automaker has confirmed that the SkyNomad will launch soon in China. Additional details are expected to be revealed closer to its market debut in China.
