BMW 7 Series, i7 India Launch Set For September 11: Bookings Open

BMW has confirmed that the facelifted 7 Series and all-electric i7 are scheduled to launch on September 11, 2026 in India. The models are set to arrive in India just over three months after their global debut, bringing design changes, cabin updates and powertrain upgrades.
Key Highlights:
  • Updated BMW 7 Series and i7 to launch in India on September 11, 2026
  • Bookings for both luxury sedans are already open
  • 7 Series gets a new illuminated kidney grille and split-headlight design
  • BMW i7 gets a 112.5kWh battery with up to 728km claimed range
BMW India has already started accepting bookings for both models. Customers can book the cars through authorised dealerships or register their interest through the automaker's India website.
The updated BMW 7 Series receives a few styling changes as part of its mid-life update. The most noticeable change is at the front, where the sedan gets a new illuminated kidney grille.
The headlights have also been redesigned and now follow a split arrangement. The slim upper section houses the daytime running lights, while the main lighting unit sits lower down near the air curtains. This gives the flagship sedan a cleaner look compared with the outgoing model.
From the side, the overall design remains largely familiar. The 7 Series continues with flush-fitting door handles and its long, elegant profile. BMW has also introduced a new alloy-wheel design.
Another small design detail is the embossed '7' on the B-pillar. The marking becomes visible when both doors on the same side of the car are opened.

International Powertrain Options

In international markets, the updated BMW 7 Series is available with 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.
The sedan is also offered with two plug-in hybrid powertrains. These versions produce 482bhp and 604bhp, respectively.
BMW is expected to announce the exact powertrain and variant details for the Indian market closer to the launch.

BMW i7 Gets a Large Battery

The electric version, BMW i7, continues to use a 112.5kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors.
Internationally, the i7 50 xDrive and 60 xDrive offer claimed ranges of 728km and 727km, respectively. The performance-focused i7 M70 xDrive produces 671bhp and has a claimed range of up to 686km.
BMW is likely to reveal the India-spec i7 variants, features and pricing at the time of the September 11 launch.

BMW 7 Series, i7: Expected Price

The updated models will continue to sit at the top of BMW India's sedan range and compete with other premium luxury models in the segment.
