BSA has entered the adventure motorcycle segment with the unveiling of the Thunderbolt at EICMA 2025. The model marks the brand’s fourth modern-era motorcycle and follows the launches of the Bantam 350 and Scrambler 650 earlier this year.
The Thunderbolt carries forward the name of a classic BSA model from the 1970s and is designed for both on and off-road use. It features a rally-style front beak, tall stance and luggage-ready setup aimed at long-distance and mixed-terrain riding.

Engine and Performance

The BSA Thunderbolt uses the same 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine as the Yezdi Adventure. The engine produces 29.2 bhp and 29.9 Nm of torque paired with a six-speed gearbox and meets Euro 5+ emission standards. The motorcycle comes equipped with traction control and dual-channel ABS offering three modes: Road, Rain and Off-Road.

Hardware and Equipment

Suspension duties are handled by a USD front fork with 200mm of travel and a monoshock at the rear with 180mm of travel. The Thunderbolt rides on wire-spoke wheels - a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear - wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.
Key specifications include a seat height of 815mm, a 15.5-litre fuel tank and a dry weight of 185kg. The bike also features an adjustable windscreen, Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation and USB charging.

Expected Launch and Market Position

BSA plans to launch the Thunderbolt internationally in mid-2026, with an India launch likely to follow. In terms of size and performance, the BSA Thunderbolt will compete with models such as the Hero Xpulse 210 and TVS Apache RTX 310, positioning it below larger-capacity adventure bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure.
