Genesis has officially unveiled the GV90, its biggest and most luxurious SUV to date. Based on the production version of the 2024 Neolun concept, the new electric SUV takes Genesis into the ultra-luxury space, where it will compete with high-end electric SUVs from Mercedes-Maybach, Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Key Highlights:
- Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its largest and most luxurious SUV yet.
- The flagship EV gets a 123.5kWh battery and up to 657bhp with dual-motor AWD.
- The GV90 Neolun features coach-style rear doors, a four-seat lounge-like cabin and premium features.
- Genesis is set to enter India in 2027, although the GV90 is unlikely to be its first model here.
Genesis GV90 Gets Two Versions

The Genesis GV90 will be offered in two versions, with the standard model featuring conventional doors. The more exclusive GV90 Neolun gets coach-style rear doors and hidden B-pillars, giving it a more premium and distinctive appearance.
The SUV follows Genesis' familiar 'Two Lines' design theme, but applies it to a much larger body. It gets the brand's signature two-line lighting elements, an upright front end, a long wheelbase and a large glasshouse.
Genesis says the overall proportions take inspiration from Korea's traditional moon jar pottery.

The GV90 Neolun's biggest design highlight is its coach-style rear doors. These doors open in the opposite direction to the front doors, creating a wide opening and making it easier for passengers to get in and out.
Despite the absence of a conventional visible B-pillar, Genesis says the structure maintains high levels of rigidity and safety. High-strength steel beams and an aluminium frame have been used to improve body strength and crash protection.

Inside, the GV90 has been designed to feel more like a private lounge than a conventional three-row SUV. The cabin gets premium materials, ambient lighting, massage functions and a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D sound system with Dolby Atmos.
The four-seat GV90 Neolun takes things further with Executive Suite seats. The front seats can rotate towards the rear when the vehicle is stationary, creating a more lounge-like environment.
Another standout feature is the pop-up OLED Cinematic Display. The screen rises from the dashboard when required and retracts when it is not being used.
Other technology includes Hyundai Motor Group's Pleos Connect software, Remote Smart Parking Assist 3, a Smart Vision Roof, a heated windscreen and Ambient Glow lighting.
Genesis GV90: Interior: Electric Powertrain
The Genesis GV90 is an electric-only flagship based on a new eMP platform. It gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, with the range-topping version producing 657bhp and 770Nm of torque.
Power comes from a large 123.5kWh battery pack. The SUV also gets Dual Electronic Limited Slip Differentials and multi-chamber air suspension, which are designed to improve stability while delivering the smooth ride expected from a flagship luxury SUV.
The 123.5kWh battery supports 350kW DC fast charging. Genesis claims the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes.
The seven-seat version has a claimed range of around 500km, making the GV90 suitable for both long-distance travel and everyday luxury use.
Genesis GV90: Interior: Safety
Safety is another major focus of the new flagship. The GV90 comes with 12 airbags, including what Genesis claims is the world's first Roof Airbag.
The unusual door design and hidden B-pillar have also been engineered to maintain occupant protection while delivering the distinctive coach-door design.
Genesis GV90 India Launch: What To Expect
Genesis is preparing to enter the Indian market in 2027. However, the GV90 is unlikely to be the model that kicks off the brand's India journey.
Genesis is expected to start with the GV70, which would give the brand a more accessible entry point into India's luxury SUV market. The GV90 could arrive later as the flagship model at the top of the range.
Hyundai has also indicated that Genesis models will be locally assembled in India. Local production could help the brand price its vehicles more competitively against luxury rivals that depend heavily on imported models.
