Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Pickup Unveiled in India; Launch by April 2027

The new pickup is aimed at the lifestyle pickup segment and is expected to compete with the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max/V-Cross in international markets. The automaker has also announced that this product will also focus on Australia, South Africa and other global markets where it will be referred to as the Mahindra Lifestyler.

The Scorpio Lifestyler carries design cues from the Scorpio-N but gets a different body to accommodate the rear load bed. The front-end gets a broad grille with the Mahindra logo, LED lighting elements and a muscular bumper. The double-cab profile is followed by a large cargo bed, while the rear gets vertically positioned tail-lights and prominent Mahindra lettering on the tailgate.

The cabin gets a new dashboard layout with a large portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a digital driver's display, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and physical controls for the climate-control system. A rotary drive-mode selector is positioned on the centre console. Mahindra has also retained physical buttons and knobs instead of relying entirely on touchscreen controls.

Mahindra has not yet disclosed the powertrain specifications of the production-spec Pik Up. The pickup is closely related to the Scorpio-N, which uses a 2.0L turbo-petrol and a 2.2L turbo-diesel engine. The Scorpio-N's petrol engine produces 200 PS and 380 Nm of torque, while the diesel develops 175 PS and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is available in Scorpio-N with both 6-speed MT and AT options. However, the Scorpio Lifestyler Pickup is likely to only be introduced with a diesel powertrain. The Scorpio Lifestyler will also get a four-wheel drive system with a low-ratio gearbox.

The production version of the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to offer multiple airbags, electronic stability control, 360-degree camera, ISOFIX mounts and more. It can even get advanced safety features like ADAS.

Mahindra has not announced the India price of the Scorpio Lifestyler but has announced that this pickup will be introduced with a price tag of under Rs 19.79 lakh. This implies that the Scorpio Lifestyler Pickup will undercut the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux.
