Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG to Debut on October 15 to Rival Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Mahindra is set to broaden the appeal of its XUV3XO sub-four-meter SUV by introducing a new CNG-powered variant. Following the recent expansion of the model's lineup, which already includes internal combustion engine options and an electric version, the company has released a teaser of the XUV 3XO which is anticipated to be the CNG iteration of this SUV and it is expected to be launched in India on October 15th 2026.
This move marks a significant return for Mahindra to the passenger vehicle CNG segment, a space the manufacturer has not actively occupied since the past few years. By adding a CNG option, the XUV3XO will join a select group of sub-four-meter SUVs that are offered with factory-fitted CNG option, positioning it to compete directly with established rivals such as the Tata Nexon i-CNG and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: What to Expect?

The upcoming Mahindra XUV3XO CNG is expected to utilize the brand’s existing 1.2-liter MPFI turbocharged petrol engine. In its standard petrol configuration, this powertrain produces approximately 110bhp and 200Nm of torque. While a slight reduction in output is anticipated when the vehicle operates on CNG due to the fuel's different calorific properties, the specific performance figures for the dual-fuel setup remain undisclosed ahead of the official reveal.
A primary point of interest for prospective buyers is the integration of the CNG storage system. Mahindra has yet to confirm whether the vehicle will feature a single-cylinder or a dual-cylinder tank configuration. The placement of the tank is particularly significant for the XUV3XO, as the model currently features a smaller boot capacity compared to some of its direct competitors. The addition of a CNG tank is expected to further impact the available cargo space, and it remains to be seen how the manufacturer will manage the spare wheel placement in this configuration.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Expected Price & Rivals

Mahindra is expected to introduce the CNG iteration of the XUV 3XO CNG with a starting ex-showroom price ranging between Rs 8.39 lakh. Following its introduction the XUV 3XO CNG will compete in the segment with the likes of Tata Nexon i-CNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG. While other manufacturers like Renault and Nissan provide CNG retro-fitment solutions for their compact SUVs, the XUV3XO will enter the market with a factory-fitted system, which is a key differentiator in the segment.
