Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Bookings Open in India Ahead of November 4 Launch

Mercedes-Benz has opened bookings for the upcoming GLC Electric in India. The electric SUV is scheduled to launch on November 4, 2026, and will be available in the GLC 400 4Matic variant. Unlike several imported luxury EVs, the GLC Electric will be locally assembled at Mercedes-Benz’s Chakan plant in Pune.
Key Highlights:
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric bookings open across India ahead of its November 4 launch.
  • India will get the GLC 400 4Matic, locally assembled at the Chakan plant.
  • International-spec model gets a 94kWh battery, 490hp, 800Nm and up to 715km WLTP range.
  • Expected India price is Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh, with the BMW iX3 LWB as a future rival.
The India-spec model is expected to be priced between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will enter the premium electric SUV segment and is expected to rival models such as the upcoming BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, which is scheduled to arrive in India in 2027.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Battery and Performance

Internationally, the GLC 400 4Matic comes with a 94kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The powertrain produces 490hp and 800Nm, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0-100kph in a claimed 4.3 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz claims a WLTP range of up to 715km on a full charge. The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW, allowing it to add up to 300km of claimed range in around 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
The international-spec model also gets 4.5-degree rear-wheel steering and air suspension as standard.

Mercedes GLC Electric: Design

The GLC Electric gets a modern design that is clearly different from the petrol-powered GLC. At the front, it features a large rounded grille with illuminated elements, along with tri-star-shaped LED daytime running lights and projector LED headlights.
The side profile is relatively clean, with flush-fitting door handles, slim wheel-arch cladding and alloy wheels of up to 21 inches.
At the rear, the SUV gets star-shaped LED tail-lights with circular outlines, connected by a gloss-black trim. The front Mercedes logo is illuminated, while the rear gets a three-dimensional Mercedes badge. Internationally, the GLC 400 4Matic is also offered with an AMG Line package featuring sportier styling.

Mercedes GLC Electric: Interior and Features

Inside, the biggest highlight is Mercedes-Benz's 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. The company says it is the largest display it has fitted to a production car. It combines the driver's display, central infotainment screen and front passenger display into one large screen unit.
The system runs on the fourth-generation MBUX interface and comes with an integrated AI assistant. Mercedes-Benz has also retained physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console, rather than relying entirely on touchscreen controls. The GLC Electric will have a five-seat layout.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: India Price and Rivals

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to be priced at around Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom) when it goes on sale in India. With local assembly and a claimed range of up to 715km internationally, the electric SUV will target buyers looking for a premium electric SUV with strong performance and long-range capability. Its key upcoming rival in India will be the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, which is expected to launch in 2027.
