The Maybach S-Class is already positioned as one of the most expensive and luxurious cars in the German carmaker's India portfolio. With the update, Mercedes-Benz is expected to push the flagship limousine further upmarket.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Exterior Updates

The updated Maybach S-Class retains the familiar limousine silhouette, but gets several changes at the front. The large grille continues to feature the signature Maybach vertical slats and can now be illuminated. The bonnet also gets an illuminated Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star, while the revised headlights feature three-pointed-star-shaped daytime running lights. The front bumper has also been redesigned.
At the rear, the D-pillar gets an illuminated Maybach logo. International models are also available with new 20-inch and 21-inch alloy wheel designs, two-tone paint schemes and additional personalisation options. It remains to be seen which of these options will be offered in India.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Interior Updates

The biggest change inside the updated Maybach S-Class is the new Superscreen layout. It combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger. International-spec versions also get Mercedes-Benz's latest MB.OS operating system and fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system. The rear cabin, which remains the main focus of the Maybach S-Class, continues to offer reclining seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions. More India-specific features are expected to be announced at the launch.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Engine Options

Mercedes-Benz offers the updated Maybach S-Class with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains in international markets. The S 580 uses an updated 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 537bhp and 750Nm. The S 580e combines a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack, producing 585bhp and 750Nm.
The S 680 continues to sit at the top of the Maybach S-Class range in select international markets. Mercedes-Benz is yet to confirm which engine options will be brought to India.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: India Price Expectations

The outgoing Maybach S-Class is priced at around Rs. 2.88 crore (ex-showroom) in India. Given the updates and additional technology, the new model is expected to be priced higher.
The updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class could have a starting price of around Rs. 3 crore (ex-showroom). The final price, variants and equipment list will be announced at the India launch on October 5.
