New Mahindra BE 6 Variant to Debut in India on August 14: Here's What to Expect

Indian automaker well recognised for its SUVs, Mahindra has made mid-August launches something of a habit, using the run-up to Independence Day to roll out new models or special editions. Adding a bit more spice to its concoction the company dropped yet another teaser on its social media handles hinting at a product unveil/launch which precedes its August 15th multi-product showcasing. In the post the company teased a product which would break cover on August 14th.

Well, like most we were too left in the mix as to which product this might be (BE)! Yes, the tags below the post did suggest a BE 6 model. However, since the company has remained tight-lipped on this, we too were left guessing. Analysing all the information we have till date, we came to a conclusion that it could be either of these two models - a production version of the BE Rall E concept with AWD or a dark-themed BE6 variant. Two possibilities are either an Off-road-ready BE 6 Rall E or the BE6 Shadow (Dark/Black) Edition. Here is a quick overview of what to expect from the upcoming Mahindra product, with limited information that we have till date:

The teaser visuals have a familiar outline, one that matches the BE Rall E concept which was previously showcased by the company a few years back. Bridging the gap from its concept vehicle to production ready stage we expect it to be based on the BE6’s INGLO platform and available with the 79 kWh battery pack options and complemented with AWD drivetrain and tough styling.

Where it’s likely to differ is the drivetrain, it is expected to get a dual-motor AWD setup to suit its off-road brief. Visual cues like a bash plate, similar DRL pattern, and front fascia inspired by the concept suggest Mahindra is sticking to the rugged theme. On the inside we expect it to sport the ongoing two-spoke backlit steering wheel and dashboard layout similar to BE6. It is also likely to get more utility elements on the inside to support its off-roading credentials.

The other possibility from the teaser could be hinting that it is the Shadow Edition of the BE6 with dark/black styling package. The introduction of BE6 could follow the likes of other products from the Mahindra’s stable with dark styling packages like the Scorpio N Carbon Edition and XUV700 Ebony Edition. Changes to this model can include all-black elements on the exterior and an all-black interior of the BE6.
