Porsche models are set to get a technology upgrade without losing their original cabin character. Porsche has announced that its Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) infotainment system will be available as a retrofit for additional discontinued models.

The upgrade is aimed at 2009–2016 Porsche 911, Boxster and Cayman models, which the automaker considers potential “future classics”. The system will be installed by Porsche engineers at authorised service centres and is designed to look like factory-fitted equipment.
Porsche PCCM Plus: What Does it Offer?
The PCCM Plus system is based around a 7-inch touchscreen and brings several modern connectivity features to older Porsche models. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity through a SIM slot.
The system also gets current navigation maps and supports over-the-air updates. Steering wheel controls, instrument cluster integration and personalised settings are also supported.
Two versions of the PCCM Plus system will be offered to ensure compatibility with different Porsche models and generations.
Porsche says the retrofit will not simply replace the existing infotainment system with a generic aftermarket unit. The system will continue to support vehicle-specific functions, including displays for oil temperature and oil pressure.
Navigation also gets satellite imagery and visual speed limit indicators. On compatible Boxster and Cayman models, the existing acoustic parking assist will be supplemented by a virtual display on the infotainment screen, showing the distance to nearby obstacles.
More Features For Older Porsche Models
The system also supports digital radio reception in markets where it is available. Depending on local regulations, video playback can be used when the vehicle is parked. Another feature is Porsche's Scenic Roads navigation function, which provides matching visuals when the car is driven on winding or scenic routes.
Owners can also personalise the display by selecting their Porsche's exterior colour. The infotainment interface then changes to match the selected colour, helping the modern touchscreen blend better with the older cabin.
Factory-Like Retrofit For Porsche Classics
Unlike a conventional aftermarket infotainment upgrade, Porsche says the PCCM Plus system has been developed specifically for its older models. The company will carry out the installation through authorised service centres, allowing the new hardware to retain the look and feel of the original interior.
However, the retrofit system does not offer all the features available with Porsche's latest-generation infotainment system used in newer and upcoming models.
