Royal Enfield has restarted the installation of the Gear Position Indicator (GPI) on specific 350cc motorcycle models produced after August 2025, offering this service for free via authorized service centers.
Royal Enfield is Offering Free Gear Indicator Upgrade for Select 350cc Motorcycles: Check Eligibility
Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Royal Enfield has resumed offering the gear indicator on select 350cc motorcycles that were manufactured after August 2025. The company is now installing the gear indicator free of cost through its authorised service network after resolving the supply constraints that had temporarily halted its fitment.
The free update is applicable to the select 350cc Royal Enfield motorcycles that were produced during the period. Owners of eligible motorcycles can get the Gear Position Indicator installed at authorised Royal Enfield service centres without any additional charge.
What is the Gear Position Indicator?
The Gear Position Indicator displays the currently engaged gear on the motorcycle's instrument cluster. The feature helps riders identify the selected gear at a glance, making gear changes more convenient during everyday riding. It is particularly useful for new riders, as it assists in selecting the appropriate gear and riding more efficiently.
Why Was the Gear Position Indicator Removed?
Royal Enfield had temporarily stopped fitting the Gear Position Indicator on select 350cc motorcycles last year in October due to a shortage of rare-earth materials required to manufacture the component. As the supply chain has now stabilised, the company has resumed installation for motorcycles that were delivered without the feature.
How to Check if Your Motorcycle is Eligible
Customers can verify eligibility by checking their motorcycle's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Royal Enfield's official website. Alternatively, owners can visit or contact their nearest authorised service centre, where the VIN will be checked and the Gear Position Indicator will be installed free of cost if the motorcycle qualifies.
Models Covered Under the Update
The free Gear Position Indicator installation is available for the following Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycles manufactured after August 2025:
- Classic 350
- Hunter 350
- Meteor 350
- Goan Classic 350
With the component now back in regular supply, Royal Enfield is restoring the feature across affected motorcycles through its authorised service network, ensuring eligible customers receive the update at no cost.
