Top Upcoming Electric Two-Wheelers in India: World EV Day

The Indian two-wheeler market is entering a new phase as major manufacturers step into the electric mobility space. From scooters to motorcycles, several new products are set to arrive over the next two years. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated electric two-wheelers in India for 2025 and beyond.

Suzuki Motorcycle India unveiled its first electric scooter, the e-Access, at Auto Expo 2025. This scooter also marks Suzuki’s global entry into the electric two-wheeler segment. It comes with a 3.07 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack producing 5.49 bhp of peak power and 15 Nm of torque. The company claims a range of up to 95 km on a single charge, along with a top speed of 71 kmph. The e-Access offers three riding modes – Eco, Ride A, and Ride B – along with a reverse mode. Features include a TFT LCD screen with smartphone connectivity, keyless operation, side-stand interlock, tip-over detection, and a multi-function starter switch.

Ola Electric showcased the second prototype of its Diamondhead electric motorcycle at the company’s Sankalp event in August 2025. Initially revealed two years ago, the model is being developed as a sport-touring motorcycle and is slated for launch around mid-2027. With an expected ex-showroom price of about ₹5 lakh, the Diamondhead is designed to offer futuristic styling with aerodynamic elements, hub-centred steering, and lightweight construction. Ola claims it will accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2 seconds. The bike is also expected to feature adaptive suspension, active ergonomics, and ultra-fast charging.

At its 2025 Community Day, Ather Energy revealed the Concept EL01, a preview of its upcoming family scooter platform. The EL architecture introduces an all-steel unibody frame, a shift from the aluminium structure used in the 450 series and Rizta. The flexible platform can accommodate wheel sizes ranging from 12 inches to 14 inches and is designed to support various scooter types, including sporty models, maxi-scooters, and commuter-focused variants. Battery options will range between 2 kWh and 5 kWh, with compatibility for both NMC and LFP chemistries. Production scooters based on this platform are expected in the second half of 2026.

Royal Enfield is also preparing to enter the electric motorcycle space with the Himalayan Electric, known internally as the Him-e. Recently spotted testing in Ladakh, the bike carries forward the familiar adventure-tourer silhouette of the petrol-powered Himalayan. Key design elements include a round LED headlamp, a short windshield, protective shrouds, and a slim tank-like structure. The Him-e is expected to arrive within the next 18 months, marking the brand’s debut in the electric motorcycle category.
