Toyota Hilux 2026 India Launch Expected in July with Major Updates: What To Expect?
Key Highlights:
- Ninth-gen Toyota Hilux launching in India next month
- Gets new design, upgraded cabin and advanced features
- Expected to continue with the 2.8-litre diesel engine and 4x4 setup
- Possible addition of 48V mild-hybrid technology in India-spec model
With the new Hilux being a completely updated generation, it is likely to be priced higher than the current model, which is currently available in India at Rs 28.52 lakh to Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom).
New Toyota Hilux Gets A Tougher, Modern Design
The upcoming Hilux continues with its rugged pickup truck character but gets a more modern appearance. At the front, it features slim LED headlamps positioned higher on the bonnet, connected by a black trim element with the Toyota lettering.
The front bumper gets a bold design with a honeycomb-style grille and angular air vents, giving the pickup a more aggressive look. The side profile gets cleaner styling, squared-off body cladding and new 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Hilux comes with vertical tail-lamps featuring C-shaped lighting elements, along with a large Toyota badge on the tailgate.
More Premium Interior With Bigger Screens
The cabin of the new Hilux gets a major upgrade compared to the outgoing model. The dashboard now features a dual-screen setup with two 12.3-inch displays, along with a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel.
Despite the modern digital upgrades, Toyota has retained physical buttons and controls for key functions, making the cabin more practical for everyday use and off-road driving.
Toyota Hilux 2026: Loaded With New Features
The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux is expected to arrive with a host of new features, making it more premium and tech-focused than before. The updated pickup will get terrain and drive modes, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, connected car technology, powered and ventilated front seats, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
It will also offer advanced safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, ADAS functions, driver drowsiness detection, along with multi-terrain and 360-degree camera systems for improved visibility and convenience.
Toyota Hilux 2026: Same Diesel Engine Expected For India
The current Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 204hp and 500Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The pickup also comes with a standard 4x4 system.
Since the new Hilux continues to use Toyota’s IMV body-on-frame platform, the India-spec model is expected to retain the same 2.8-litre diesel engine. However, Toyota could introduce its 48V Neo Drive mild-hybrid technology, similar to the system offered on the Fortuner.
Hilux EV Also Available Globally
Internationally, Toyota also offers the new Hilux in an electric version, making it the brand’s first body-on-frame electric vehicle. The Hilux EV uses a 59.2kWh battery pack with dual motors producing 196hp, while the claimed WLTP range stands at around 240km.
However, Toyota is yet to confirm whether the Hilux EV will be introduced in the Indian market.
