Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce a major update for its popular compact SUV, the Brezza, on July 23. The refreshed model is expected to come with styling changes, a more feature-loaded cabin and a new engine option, making it a stronger rival in the competitive sub-4 metre SUV segment.
Key Highlights:
- The updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza could get the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Fronx, producing around 100hp and 148Nm of torque.
- The facelifted Brezza is expected to feature revised bumpers, updated lighting elements, connected LED tail-lamps and new alloy wheels.
- The SUV could get a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen.
- The
updated Brezza may come with Level 2 ADAS features.
New Turbo-Petrol Engine Expected
The biggest update on the upcoming Brezza could be its new powertrain. For the first time, Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer the SUV with a turbo-petrol engine. The expected engine is the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit from the Fronx, which produces 100hp and 148Nm of torque.
This engine could be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, as a test mule of the updated Brezza was spotted with this transmission earlier. A CNG version could also be introduced, following Maruti’s strategy of offering multiple fuel options across its lineup.
The addition of the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine could also help the Brezza qualify for the lower GST bracket applicable to sub-4 metre petrol vehicles with engines up to 1,200cc. Currently, the Brezza is the only SUV in its segment without a turbo-petrol option.
Exterior Updates And New Design Elements
The updated Brezza is expected to receive subtle design changes rather than a complete makeover. It could get revised bumpers, updated lighting elements and new alloy wheels.
The rear profile may feature connected LED tail-lamps with a segmented light bar, similar to the larger Maruti Suzuki Victoris SUV.
More Premium Cabin And Added Features
Inside, the overall dashboard layout is expected to remain similar, but Maruti could introduce new upholstery, trims and colour combinations to give the cabin a more premium feel.
The updated Brezza could borrow several features from the Victoris, including a larger 10.1-inch infotainment system, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats and ambient lighting.
In terms of safety, the SUV could get Level 2 ADAS features, along with front parking sensors that were spotted on test vehicles.
Updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza Expected Price
With the added features and mechanical updates, the facelifted Brezza is likely to come at a slight premium over the current model, which is priced between Rs 8.26 lakh and Rs 12.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
The updated Brezza will continue to compete with rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.
