Triumph is getting ready to expand its 400cc motorcycle line-up in India with the new Bonneville 400. The upcoming motorcycle is expected to arrive around the festive season and will bring a more traditional retro design to Triumph's India range. The bike is expected to take on established models such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda CB350.

Triumph Bonneville 400: Expected Design
The Bonneville 400 is expected to have a more traditional design compared with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. It is likely to feature a larger fuel tank, flatter seat, longer rear section and chunky front and rear mudguards.
The motorcycle is also expected to get a dedicated chassis and swingarm, along with a redesigned rear subframe. A peashooter-style exhaust, chrome-finished engine covers and a chrome grab rail are likely to further strengthen its classic appearance.
The overall design is expected to take inspiration from Triumph's larger Bonneville motorcycles while retaining the compact proportions of a 400cc motorcycle.
Triumph Bonneville 400: Expected Engine and Performance
The Bonneville 400 is expected to use Triumph's existing 349cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine used in its India-made 400cc range. However, the engine could receive a different tune for the Bonneville. Instead of focusing on outright performance, Triumph is expected to tune the engine for stronger low- and mid-range performance. This should suit the motorcycle's relaxed riding character and classic design.
Triumph Bonneville 400: Expected Hardware
The Bonneville 400 is expected to use more conventional hardware than the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. It could get telescopic front forks, twin rear shock absorbers and wire-spoke wheels. This setup would also bring the motorcycle closer to the hardware used by established retro roadsters such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda CB350.
The motorcycle is also expected to feature disc brakes and dual-channel ABS, although Triumph is yet to confirm the complete equipment list.
Triumph Bonneville 400: Price and Rivals
Triumph is yet to reveal the price of the Bonneville 400. The motorcycle is expected to be positioned above the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda CB350, while potentially sitting closer to Triumph's existing 400cc models.
