Triumph has launched the Bonneville T40 and T40 Black in India, expanding its locally manufactured small-capacity motorcycle range into the classic Bonneville family. Both motorcycles are priced at Rs 2,79,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Online bookings for both motorcycles will open on 7 October at 4:30 PM. Deliveries of the T40 and T40 Black are scheduled to begin in the second week of November 2026.
Key Highlights:
  • Triumph Bonneville T40 unveiled as a new 350cc motorcycle for India
  • Gets a 29.1 bhp, 350cc single-cylinder engine with 31.2 Nm torque
  • Features include cruise control, riding modes, cornering ABS and traction control
  • Comes with a 790mm seat height, 14.5-litre fuel tank and 195kg kerb weight
The T40 is aimed at riders looking for a traditional roadster experience without giving up modern features and electronics.

Triumph Bonneville T40: Design

The Bonneville T40 carries several design elements associated with Triumph’s heritage. It gets a sculpted teardrop-shaped fuel tank, round headlamp, long mudguards, spoke wheels and twin rear shock absorbers. The motorcycle also gets two-tone paint schemes with hand-painted coach lining, rubber tank knee pads and Triumph’s three-bar badge. Brushed aluminium engine covers and a peashooter-style exhaust further add to its retro appearance.
The bike will be offered in three colour combinations: Aegean Blue with Fusion White, Meriden Blue with Tangerine Orange, and New England White with Jet Black.

Bonneville T40: Engine and Performance

Power comes from Triumph’s liquid-cooled 350cc TR Series single-cylinder engine. For the T40, the engine gets a revised cylinder head and a dedicated tune focused on relaxed performance and stronger low-end torque. It produces 29.1bhp at 7,000 rpm and 31.2Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch.
Triumph has also used a lower idle speed and a peashooter-style silencer to give the motorcycle a more pronounced exhaust note and firing pulse.

Three Riding Modes and Modern Electronics

Despite its traditional styling, the Bonneville T40 comes with a sizeable electronics package. It gets Road, Rain and Eco riding modes, along with two customisable modes. These modes alter throttle response, traction control and ABS intervention. Cruise control is offered as standard, while the bike also gets lean-sensitive cornering ABS and traction control.

The motorcycle features a new four-inch circular colour TFT display. A Heritage Mode changes the screen layout to give it the appearance of a traditional analogue Bonneville instrument. Turn-by-turn full-map navigation, smartphone connectivity, call management and music controls are also available through Triumph's navigation system.

Triumph Bonneville T40: Dimensions and Hardware

The Bonneville T40 has a 790mm seat height, while an optional low seat reduces this to 770mm. It gets an upright handlebar, relaxed footpeg position and a conventional bench-style seat. The motorcycle comes with a 14.5-litre fuel tank and has a declared wet weight of 195kg. It rides on an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, which is expected to give it a more relaxed steering character compared with Triumph's sportier 350cc motorcycles. A centre stand is also offered as standard, making routine chain maintenance and cleaning easier.

Triumph Bonneville T40: Features

The T40 comes with full-LED lighting, self-cancelling indicators and an Emergency Deceleration Warning system that flashes the rear light during hard braking. A USB Type-C charging port is also included. With its combination of traditional Bonneville styling, a relaxed 350cc engine and modern electronic features, the T40 marks a different approach to Triumph's locally manufactured 350cc motorcycles.
