Updated Mahindra Thar Likely to Debut on Aug 15: What to Expect?
Expected key additions include ADAS suite, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a Harman Kardon audio system. Exterior styling changes likely to draw inspiration from the Thar Roxx.
Mahindra Thar. (Current Spec Thar 3-Door)
The Mahindra Thar is set to get a major update, with the three-door lifestyle SUV expected to receive several new features and styling changes. The updated model is likely to be showcased at Mahindra’s annual Freedom Drive event ahead of Independence Day. While the Thar’s rugged character will remain intact, the facelift is expected to make it safer, more premium and better equipped.
Key Highlights
- ADAS features could be introduced for the first time on the three-door Thar
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster expected to replace the analogue setup
- Harman Kardon audio system and ventilated front seats likely to improve cabin comfort
- New exterior design with revised lighting, bumpers and alloy wheels
Mahindra Thar 2026 Likely to Get ADAS
One of the biggest upgrades expected on the 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift is the addition of an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite. Test mules have been spotted with a front-facing camera mounted behind the windshield, hinting at the arrival of these features.
The ADAS package is expected to include Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
This would bring the three-door Thar closer to newer Mahindra SUVs such as the Thar Roxx and Scorpio-N in terms of safety and driver assistance technology.
New 10.25-Inch Digital Instrument Cluster
The facelifted Thar is also expected to get a major cabin upgrade in the form of a 10.25-inch fully digital TFT instrument cluster. It is likely to replace the existing analogue instrument setup.
The new display could show navigation information, off-road data, fuel efficiency figures and vehicle alerts. It may also offer different display layouts, allowing drivers to customise the information shown on the screen.
Mahindra is expected to make the Thar’s cabin more premium with the addition of a Harman Kardon audio system.
The upgrade should improve the in-car entertainment experience and give the three-door SUV a more upmarket feel. This will be particularly important as buyers increasingly expect premium features even in lifestyle-oriented SUVs.
Exterior Styling Likely to Take Inspiration From Thar Roxx
The 2026 Thar facelift will retain its familiar boxy silhouette but is expected to receive several styling changes inspired by the larger Thar Roxx.
The SUV could get a new grille, circular LED projector headlamps with C-shaped DRLs and a redesigned front bumper. Spy shots have also revealed dual-tone five-spoke alloy wheels, which are expected to measure 18 inches, while higher variants could get 19-inch wheels.
At the rear, the Thar is likely to receive redesigned LED tail lamps with a new lighting signature along with a subtly revised bumper.
Ventilated Seats and Automatic Climate Control
Mahindra is also expected to address some long-standing customer demands with the facelift. The three-door Thar could get ventilated front seats, a feature already offered with the Thar Roxx.
Another important convenience upgrade is expected to be automatic climate control, replacing the current manual air-conditioning setup. This should make it easier to maintain a consistent cabin temperature, especially during hot weather.
With these updates, the three-door Mahindra Thar is expected to move further towards the premium end of the lifestyle SUV segment without losing its rugged character. The addition of ADAS, a digital instrument cluster, premium audio, ventilated seats and automatic climate control could make the upcoming facelift a much more feature-rich package.
