Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said the company aims to bring its electric buses to India in mid-2026. VinFast is currently in talks with State Transport Undertakings in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for potential orders.
The company’s global electric bus lineup ranges from 6-metre to 12-metre models. These buses, already on sale in Vietnam and recently launched in Europe, offer a claimed driving range of up to 260 km and use a 281 kWh battery.
Expansion of Vehicle Portfolio
VinFast began selling electric cars in India in September 2025 with the VF 6 and VF 7 and has set up around 26 dealerships. In 2026, the company plans to introduce electric two-wheelers in the second half of the year and launch its GSM ride-hailing service by August.
For two-wheelers, VinFast is evaluating models from its global range that deliver between 100 km and 160 km of range. One of the models under assessment is the Theon S, which offers a claimed 150 km range and features dual-channel ABS and LED lighting. If launched, it may be priced around Rs 1.50 lakh.

The plant currently supports an annual capacity of 50,000 electric cars, expandable to 150,000 units. The company has not confirmed manufacturing plans for its upcoming buses and two-wheelers but indicated that two-wheelers may be locally produced from launch.
