The performance division of German automaker Mercedes-Benz; AMG is gearing up to reintroduce its flagship performance models in India after a hiatus of five-years. Sharing this update the company shared that Mercedes-AMG is bringing its top-shelf GT 63 and GT 63 Pro back to India. The second-gen GT 63 and the sharper GT 63 Pro are set to launch in India on June 27th 2025. This also marks the return of the AMG GT badge in India, which last left showrooms in 2020.
The company has highlighted that this isn’t just a facelift. The GT 63 has grown in every direction and brings with it more power, more practicality and a more aggressive twin in the form of the GT 63 Pro.
Design
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 is longer, wider, and taller than the first-gen car. Wheelbase is also stretched. Mercedes has even thrown in a 2+2 seating layout this time, replacing the strict 2-seater format. But despite the added bulk, the GT’s silhouette still sticks close to its roots with the signature long bonnet, short overhangs, sloping rear and the AMG grille.
The GT 63 Pro goes a step further; it gets a new front design with added aero bits, carbon-fibre parts and a fixed rear wing. Both variants get 21-inch wheels. Brake calipers come painted in yellow for the GT 63 and black for the Pro version.
If you’ve sat in the new AMG SL 55, the GT’s cabin will feel familiar. It boasts a twin-screen layout with 12.3-inch digital cluster and 11.9-inch portrait infotainment. There's a Burmester sound system, ambient lighting and the usual AMG switchgear. It also gets AMG-spec with the usual drive mode dials. Rear seats? They're there. Whether they're usable is another story. But boot space is up and the company claims that it’s genuinely usable now.
Both versions get 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, active rear-axle steering and a locking differential as standard. The GT 63 gets adaptive suspension with multiple drive modes, including "Race". The Pro gets more focused hardware with bigger brakes, better cooling and increased aero grip.
Powertrain
According to the information shared by the company, the GT 63 and the Pro use AMG’s familiar 4.0L twin-turbo V8. The GT 63 puts out about 576 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. The Pro on the other hand generates a peak power output of 603 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. In both the versions the engine is mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Straight-line numbers? Both cars do 0 to 100kmph run in a company claimed time of 3.2 seconds. But the Pro shaves time in the 0 to 200 kmph sprint with a time of 10.9 seconds vs 11.4. The GT 63 version has a top speed of 315 kmph and 317 kmph for the GT 63 Pro version.
Expected Price
Mercedes hasn’t revealed the prices yet, however we expect both these cars to be priced upwards of Rs 3 crore with the GT 63 Pro version being priced higher than the GT 63.
