Platform and Development
The 2026 Renault Duster is built on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), a multi-energy architecture designed to support petrol, hybrid and future electrified powertrains. Renault states that nearly 90 percent of the Duster’s components have been developed specifically for India, with an emphasis on localisation and compliance with 5-star safety standards.
The Hyundai Creta is underpinned by the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform, which also supports several models across the group. The current-generation Creta was introduced in India in January 2024.
Engine and Powertrain Options
Renault offers the new Duster with three powertrain options. The entry-level engine is a 1.0L three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit producing 100bhp and 160Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. A more powerful 1.3L four-cylinder turbo-petrol direct-injection engine develops 160bhp and 280Nm of torque and is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. In addition, Renault will offer an E-Tech 160 strong hybrid system, which combines a 1.8L petrol engine with two electric motors to deliver a combined output of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.
The Hyundai Creta is available with three internal combustion engine options. Its 1.5L turbo-petrol engine produces 158bhp and 253Nm and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine generates 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, and is offered with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed IVT automatic. The diesel option is a 1.5L unit producing 114bhp and 250Nm of torque paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic.

The India-spec Renault Duster retains the boxy silhouette of the global third-generation model but features several market-specific changes. These include redesigned LED headlamps with eyebrow-shaped DRLs that also function as turn indicators, a revised grille with a large Duster badge, pixel-style fog lamps, and a silver-accented front bumper. The SUV rides on up to 18-inch alloy wheels and offers a ground clearance of 212 mm, along with approach and departure angles of 26.9 degrees and 34.7 degrees respectively. India-specific design details include Himalayan motifs on the front fenders and a yellow ‘Iconic’ strip on the body cladding.
At the rear, the Duster features triangular LED tail lamps connected by an LED light bar, a roof-mounted spoiler and a silver-accented rear bumper. The SUV measures 4,346 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width and 1,703 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,657 mm.

At the rear, the Creta features LED tail lamps connected by a full-width LED light bar and a redesigned bumper. While Hyundai has focused on a sleeker and more urban design theme, detailed ground clearance and approach/departure angles differ by variant.
