2027 Yamaha MT-125 Unveiled with New Design to Match Its Bigger Siblings

Yamaha has introduced a refreshed 2027 MT-125 featuring a redesigned front fascia, updated bodywork, and a new TFT instrument cluster, sparking speculation regarding potential design updates for the global MT series.

2027 Yamaha MT-125 Unveiled with New Design to Match Its Bigger Siblings

Yamaha has officially unveiled the 2027 iteration of its MT-125, introducing a comprehensive design facelift that brings a sharper, more modern aesthetic to the entry-level hyper-naked motorcycle. While the MT-125 is not part of the manufacturer's current Indian product lineup, the update is notable for its departure from the previous design language shared with the MT-15, leading to industry speculation about whether these styling cues will eventually influence the broader MT family.
The most prominent changes are concentrated at the front of the motorcycle. Yamaha has overhauled the headlight cluster, repositioning the bi-LED projector unit above the daytime running lights. This new assembly is housed within a translucent cowl that features contrasting color accents, giving the bike a distinct visual signature compared to its predecessor. The redesign extends to the fuel tank and surrounding shrouds, which have been sculpted to integrate the LED turn indicators directly into the bodywork. These shrouds also incorporate translucent elements and serve as radiator covers, contributing to a more cohesive, aggressive silhouette.

2027 Yamaha MT-125: What's New

Beyond the visual enhancements, the 2027 MT-125 receives a functional upgrade in the form of a new TFT instrument cluster. This display supports integrated navigation and smartphone connectivity, aligning the model with modern rider expectations for digital integration. The seat design has also been updated with a dual-tone finish to match the new body panels, further distinguishing the facelifted model from the outgoing version.
Underneath the new bodywork, the motorcycle retains its proven mechanical foundation. It continues to be powered by a 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, SOHC 4-valve engine. This powertrain produces 15 PS and 11.5 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The chassis remains centered around the established Deltabox perimeter frame, supported by 41mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends, with the front featuring a radially mounted disc. The bike also retains performance-oriented features such as a slipper clutch and traction control.
The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 will be available in four distinct color schemes: Redline White, Ice Storm, Icon Blue, and Tech Black. According to the manufacturer, the updated motorcycles are scheduled to arrive in European showrooms by the first quarter of 2027. While the MT-125 remains exclusive to specific international markets, the introduction of this new design language invites questions regarding potential future aesthetic updates for the MT-15, which shares much of the same DNA as its smaller-displacement sibling.
