Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Unveiled with V8 Hybrid Engine: Deliveries to Begin in 2027
Aston Martin has taken the roof off its latest hybrid supercar with the introduction of the Valhalla Spider. The open-top version of the Valhalla retains the coupe’s powerful hybrid powertrain, producing 1,064 horsepower, while offering buyers the option of enjoying the car with the roof removed. Despite its open-top design, the supercar has a claimed top speed of 217 mph (349 kmph).
The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider made its debut at the Concours at Wynn in Las Vegas. Deliveries of the new supercar are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027. The company has not announced its pricing yet.
Key Highlights
- Powertrain: Twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine paired with three electric motors.
- Power output: 1,064 hp and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque.
- Top speed: 217 mph (349 kmph) with the carbon-fibre hardtop installed.
- Deliveries: Expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: Powertrain and Performance
The Valhalla Spider uses the same hybrid powertrain as the coupe. It combines a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine with three electric motors to deliver a combined output of 1,064 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to all four wheels, while the car also features active aerodynamic elements designed to improve stability at high speeds. Aston Martin has retained the performance-focused hardware of the coupe, allowing the Spider to be driven on race tracks as well as public roads.
The supercar has a claimed top speed of 217 mph (349 kmph), matching the coupe. However, the maximum speed depends on the roof configuration.
What Roof Options Does the Valhalla Spider Get?
The biggest change in the Valhalla Spider is its open-top design. Buyers can choose between a removable fabric roof and an optional carbon-fibre hardtop.
With the fabric roof installed, the car's top speed is limited to 124 mph (200 kmph). The carbon-fibre hardtop allows it to reach its full claimed top speed.
A removable wind deflector helps reduce wind entering the cabin when the roof is taken off. It can be folded and stored in dedicated compartments when not required. Aston Martin has also made changes to the car's aerodynamic and stability systems to account for driving with the roof on or off.
The Valhalla Spider is Aston Martin's first production mid-engined supercar with an open cockpit. It shares the coupe's carbon-fibre structure, which helps keep weight under control while providing the stiffness required for high-performance driving.
The car retains the Valhalla's distinctive upward-opening carbon-fibre doors, with minor changes intended to make entry and exit easier.
Inside, the Spider comes with a new carbon-fibre Touring Seat as standard. Buyers can also opt for the more aggressive carbon-fibre seat offered in the coupe at no additional cost.
When Will the Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Launch?
Aston Martin has scheduled deliveries of the Valhalla Spider for the third quarter of 2027. The company has not revealed the price of the open-top supercar yet. The Spider will join the Valhalla coupe in Aston Martin's performance car range, offering buyers the same hybrid power and claimed top speed with the added option of open-top driving.
