Triumph has updated its flagship adventure motorcycle, the Tiger 1200, in India with more power, revised suspension and new technology. The motorcycle is available in two variants, GT Pro and Rally Explorer, with prices starting at Rs 20.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The update also brings a lower seat height at stops, revised styling and additional safety features aimed at improving comfort on long rides and everyday use.
Key Highlights:
  • The updated Triumph Tiger 1200 is priced at Rs 20.99 lakh for the GT Pro and Rs 23.49 lakh for the Rally Explorer (ex-showroom).
  • The 1,160cc, three-cylinder engine now produces 155.8 bhp and 130 Nm of torque.
  • New semi-active suspension can lower the seat by 30mm when the motorcycle comes to a stop.
  • Features include a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and new radar-based rider assistance systems.

New Triumph Tiger 1200: Engine and Performance

The updated Tiger 1200 continues to use a 1,160cc, three-cylinder engine. It now produces 155.8bhp at 9,250rpm, which is 7.8bhp more than before. Peak torque remains at 130Nm at 6,750rpm.
Triumph has revised the cylinder head, pistons, valves, fuel injection system and exhaust to improve combustion and gas flow. The first three gear ratios have also been changed to improve low-speed performance.
Updates to the crankshaft, balancer shaft, gearbox and shaft drive are aimed at reducing vibrations and making gearshifts smoother. The six-speed gearbox continues to feature Triumph Shift Assist, which allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

Revised Suspension and Lower Seat Height

One of the key updates is the Showa semi-active suspension system. It can automatically lower the motorcycle by 30mm when it comes to a stop, making it easier for riders to place their feet on the ground.
The bike also gets a two-position seat adjustment and an optional low seat, which can bring the seat height down to 790mm at a standstill. The suspension returns to its riding height when the motorcycle moves off. Riders can choose between Firm, Medium and Soft damping settings. A new Centre Stand Assist function temporarily increases suspension preload to make it easier to lift the motorcycle onto its centre stand.

New Triumph Tiger 1200: Technology and Features

The updated Tiger 1200 gets a new 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other additions include a cooled phone compartment and USB-C charging.
The motorcycle also gets front and rear Bosch radar systems, enabling several rider assistance features. These include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist, blind-spot assist and rear distance warning. For improved visibility, Triumph has introduced a new LED projector headlight with adaptive cornering lights. The system adjusts illumination into bends as the motorcycle leans.

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro vs Rally Explorer: What's the Difference?

Both variants get 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, along with 200mm of suspension travel at both ends. However, there are some differences in their equipment and intended use.
The GT Pro gets cast-alloy wheels and a 20-litre fuel tank. The Rally Explorer features spoked wheels and a larger 30-litre fuel tank for longer journeys. It also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system, additional engine protection, wider and higher-set handlebars, and an Off-road Pro riding mode.
In terms of weight, the GT Pro tips the scales at 250kg, while the Rally Explorer weighs 268kg.
Triumph has revised the fuel tank, radiator cowls, front beak and windscreen as part of the update. The GT Pro is available in Sapphire Black and Aluminium Silver/Pacific Blue colour options. The Rally Explorer comes in Ash Grey/Sapphire Black and Matt Khaki Green.
Both variants get redesigned seats with thicker foam for improved comfort. Heated seats for the rider and pillion, along with three-stage heated grips, are standard on both models.
