BMW Motorrad is preparing to expand its 450cc motorcycle range in India. The brand has teased a new streetfighter based on its 450 platform, which is expected to be called the BMW F 450 R. The motorcycle will be the second model from BMW to use this platform after the F 450 GS and will bring a more road-focused setup to the range.

BMW F 450 R: Design
The upcoming BMW F 450 R gets a sporty and aggressive design, with a muscular fuel tank featuring sharp extensions. The motorcycle also gets a raised tail section, giving it a compact and sporty profile.
Another notable detail is the underbelly exhaust, which keeps the side profile clean while adding to the streetfighter's sporty appearance. The motorcycle is expected to feature a sharp LED lighting setup, although BMW is yet to reveal complete details.
BMW F 450 R: Engine and Hardware
The F 450 R is expected to use the same 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the F 450 GS. In the ADV, this engine produces 48bhp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm.
BMW could retune the engine for the streetfighter to suit road riding, although the final specifications will be confirmed at the launch.
The motorcycle will also get road-focused underpinnings. The teaser suggests 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, likely paired with road-biased tyres. Disc brakes are expected at both the front and rear.
BMW F 450 R: Features
In terms of equipment, the F 450 R is expected to borrow several features from the F 450 GS. This could include a TFT instrument console, multiple riding modes and traction control, along with other electronic aids.
More details about the motorcycle's electronics and equipment are expected to be revealed closer to its unveiling.
BMW F 450 R: Rivals and Launch
The upcoming BMW F 450 R will compete with motorcycles such as the Aprilia Tuono 457 in India. The KTM 390 Duke R could also be considered an alternative in the segment. BMW Motorrad is scheduled to unveil the new streetfighter in India on October 1, 2026. While the company has not revealed its price yet, the F 450 R is expected to command a premium, similar to the F 450 GS.
BMW recently increased the price of the F 450 GS in India, with the adventure motorcycle becoming up to Rs 30,000 more expensive than before.
