Ferrari Goes Electric, Set to Unveil its First-Ever Electric Car on Capital Markets Day 2025
Italian automaker Ferrari has announced that it will unveil its first-ever all-electric car, the Ferrari Elettrica, on December 10, which is the Capital Markets Day 2025. The launch of the Ferrari Ellectrica marks the next phase of the Italian automaker's multi-energy strategy, including internal combustion engines, Hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and fully electric vehicles. In addition to that, the all-electric sports car from the house of the Prancing Horse is a result of years of innovation, dating back to 2009, F1-derived hybrid technology.
Staying true to Ferrari’s philosophy of in-house engineering and craftsmanship, the Elettrica introduces over 60 patented technologies. Both chassis and body are built with 75% recycled aluminium, cutting 6.7 tons of CO2 per car. A radically new short wheelbase architecture places the battery in the floor for a lower centre of gravity- 80 mm lower than an ICE model- offering agility and optimal weight distribution (47:53 front to rear).

The Elettrica gets two electric axles with four motors, with the front axle producing 281.6 bhp, can disengage for RWD driving, and achieves 93% efficiency. The rear axle, delivering 831 bhp and up to 8000 Nm torque in Performance Launch mode, uses motors with a power density of 6.43 bhp/kg. Both axles were fully developed by Ferrari, using F1-inspired Halbach array rotors and SiC inverters.
Ferrari’s in-house developed battery integrates seamlessly into the floor structure. With 15 modules and 210 cells in series, it achieves 195 Wh/kg energy density and 800V architecture, delivering up to 1200 A peak current. Additionally, it plays a structural role, with crash protection integrated into the chassis. In addition to that, the liquid-cooled system ensures temperature control and performance longevity, while the layout keeps 85 percent of the weight as low as possible.
Moreover, the Italian automaker has developed proprietary inverters with the front unit weighing 9 kg while delivering up to 402 bhp. Precision control strategies such as Torque Shift Engagement and toggling improve efficiency and range. Sound is not artificially synthesised—mechanical vibrations from the powertrain are picked up by sensors and amplified to create a real, responsive electric soundtrack.
The third-generation active suspension system, derived from the Purosangue and F80, delivers both comfort and dynamic excellence. Lighter shocks with integrated thermocouples and enhanced recirculating ball screws offer improved ride quality and handling. The Torque Shift Engagement feature allows drivers to access five progressive power levels via steering paddles, with a matching regenerative braking system using the left paddle.
On the steering wheel, two controllers—Manettino and eManettino—let drivers tailor driving dynamics and energy usage. Lastly, bespoke low-resistance tyres developed by three suppliers deliver a 15% reduction in rolling resistance while maintaining Ferrari’s signature handling in dry and wet conditions.
