Ferrari Purosangue Recalled in US Over Risk of Reduced Braking Power
Ferrari North America is recalling 541 Purosangue SUVs due to a potential electrical short circuit that may affect braking. The issue arises from the fuse box's power supply potentially coming into contact with the passenger-side footrest, which could activate the brake warning light and lead to decreased braking capability. This problem was identified following an incident in China, prompting an investigation starting in July 2025. To address the concern, Ferrari will install a spacer to prevent contact, already implemented in newer models.
Ferrari Purosangue Recalled in US
Ferrari North America has announced a voluntary safety recall for 541 units of its Purosangue SUV that were manufactured between Jul 25, 2022 to Feb 18, 2025 due to a potential electrical short circuit near the fuse box, which could lead to reduced braking.
According to the report filed by Ferrari to NHTSA said, Ferrari has determined that in the Subject Vehicle the layout of the fuse box’s power supply and the passenger side footrest might cause a short circuit in case of contact between such components, thus potentially causing the activation of the brake warning light, the display of the pop-up message informing the driver to slowly bring the vehicle to a dealer and the decrease of braking capability
A possible short circuit might happen if the fuse box’s power supply touches the passenger-side footrest. This could trigger the brake warning light and show a message telling the driver to slowly take the car to a dealer. If the driver ignores this warning, the brakes might not work properly, which could lead to a crash.
The issue came to light when an incident was reported in China, the automaker started investigating the matter in July 2025. Although no injuries, accidents, or warranty claims have been filed in connection to this defect, Ferrari decided on July 21, 2025, to initiate a recall as a precautionary measure.
To deal with the issue, Ferrari will install a plastic spacer between the fuse box and the passenger-side footrest, ensuring no contact between the two components. This change has already been incorporated into vehicles produced from February 2025 onward.
