Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced a second safety recall this year related to the seatbelt assembly. According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), a total of 1,821 vehicles manufactured between December 1, 2021 and May 31, 2025, have been affected.
This includes 860 units of Skoda’s Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia, and 961 units of Volkswagen’s Taigun and Virtus. These are all locally assembled models. A previous recall for the same models in May 2025 had impacted over 47,000 vehicles.
The issue involves a potential crack in the metal base frame of the rear seatbelt assembly on the left and right sides. Additionally, some units may have been fitted with incorrect seatbelt parts at both the front and rear positions. These issues were detected during ongoing quality checks.
SIAM documents confirm that only the affected models produced within the specified timeframe are part of this recall. Imported models like the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line are not included.
Recently, Volkswagen rolled out a monsoon service camp in India. This service camp is valid till 31st July 2025 and is valid across all authorised company service stations in the country. During this initiative VW owners in India can take benefits of complementary 40-point car check-up and special discounts on Service Value Packages.
