American automaker Ford has recalled the popular F-150 pickup in the USA. The recall affects 2,23,472 units of the F-150 manufactured from the 2023 to 2027 model years and is linked to the fuel tank mounting system. The recall have been issued over concerns that could potentially affect vehicle control, drive power or increase the risk of a fire.
Ford F-150 Fuel Tank Recall
The latest recall issued by Ford related to fuel tanks covers F-150s manufactured between January 2023 and August 2026. The affected trucks may have front fuel tank straps that were improperly assembled. As a result, the fuel tank may not remain securely attached to the vehicle and could detach while driving. Apart from creating a road hazard, a detached tank could result in a fuel leak. Fuel loss could cause the engine to stall and also increase the risk of a fire.
Ford dealers will inspect the fuel tank straps on affected vehicles and replace them if required. The repair will be carried out at no cost to vehicle owners. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed from later this month. Owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall database to determine if their vehicle is affected.
