Honda CBR500R Four: Engine and Performance
The biggest highlight of the Honda CBR500R Four is its all-new 502cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. It produces 72PS at 11,000 rpm and 47.4Nm of peak torque at 9,750 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Honda has used several technologies to improve the engine's performance and reduce weight. These include Nickel-Silicon Carbide (Ni-SiC) cylinder plating and Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) valve lifters. The motorcycle also gets a dual ram-air intake system with differently sized intake funnels.
Another key feature is Honda's E-Clutch system, offered as standard. It allows riders to pull away, shift gears and come to a stop without manually operating the clutch lever. This is designed to make riding more convenient, particularly in situations that require frequent gear changes.
Honda CBR500R Four: Design and Colours
The Honda CBR500R Four follows the brand's familiar sportbike design language. It features angular fairings, a muscular fuel tank and an upswept exhaust. At the front, the motorcycle gets twin LED projector headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
The motorcycle will be available in two colour options: Ignition Red and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic.
Honda CBR500R Four: Features and Technology
The new sportbike comes with a 5-inch TFT instrument console featuring Honda RoadSync connectivity. The system supports Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call and SMS alerts. Other features include a ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes: Standard, Sport and Urban. There are also two customisable User modes that allow riders to adjust settings such as power delivery, engine braking and traction control.
The motorcycle also gets backlit switches, a USB Type-C charging port and an engine immobiliser.
Honda CBR500R Four: Hardware and Safety
The Honda CBR500R Four is built around a new steel tube diamond frame and rides on 17-inch wheels at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm KYB inverted front fork and a rear Pro-Link monoshock.
For braking, the motorcycle gets twin 296mm front discs with radially mounted Nissin two-piston calipers. At the rear, it uses a 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper.
The safety package includes dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control. Honda has also equipped the motorcycle with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres as standard.
Honda CBR500R Four: Weight, Seat Height and Fuel Tank
The new Honda CBR500R Four has a kerb weight of 189kg and a seat height of 780mm. It gets a 14-litre fuel tank, which should be considered alongside its engine capacity and intended use when assessing its touring range. Honda has not provided the India launch timeline or pricing details in the information shared so far. Further details about its availability in the Indian market remain awaited.
