Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the XR300L and XR300 Rally in India. The Honda XR300L is priced at Rs 1.83 lakh, while the XR300 Rally costs Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for both motorcycles are now open and they will be sold through Honda BigWing dealerships.
The XR300L and XR300 Rally are based on the same 293.5cc single-cylinder engine and share their core mechanical components. However, Honda has positioned the two motorcycles differently. The XR300L is aimed at riders looking for a lightweight dual-sport motorcycle, while the XR300 Rally gets additional equipment for longer-distance adventure riding.
Hero XR300 Rally, XR300L: Price
Honda has launched the XR300 Rally in India priced at Rs 1.83 lakh and the XR300 Rally on the other hand is priced at Rs 2.08 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). Both these motorcycles are being manufactured in India and will be retailed via the Honda BigWing dealerships across India.
The Honda XR300 Rally is designed as the more touring-focused version. It gets a larger fuel tank, taller windscreen, knuckle guards and additional rally-inspired bodywork. The motorcycle also gets a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster and additional switchgear. These changes make the XR300 Rally more suitable for riders who plan to combine highway riding with off-road sections. The additional equipment also makes the Rally version heavier than the XR300L.
The biggest difference between the two motorcycles is their intended use. The XR300L follows a simpler dual-sport format and is aimed at riders who want to prioritise off-road riding while retaining road usability. The XR300 Rally adds equipment designed to improve touring ability, including a larger tank, wind protection and additional bodywork. Both motorcycles, however, use the same basic engine and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel configuration.
Honda XR300L, XR300 Rally: Engine
Power comes from a 293.5cc, single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled engine. The motor is related to the engine previously used in the Honda CB300F. International versions of the XR300L produce around 24 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. The India-specification output figures have not been fully detailed by Honda yet. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and gets an assist and slipper clutch.
Honda XR300L, XR300 Rally: Suspension & Braking
The two motorcycles use a dual-sport chassis setup with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. Both wheels are wire-spoke units. Braking hardware includes disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
The suspension setup uses a long-travel front fork and rear monoshock, with the international-specification motorcycle using Showa hardware. The wheel and suspension combination is designed to provide greater capability on broken roads and off-road surfaces compared with conventional street motorcycles.
