Made-in-India for Japan: Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Fronx and e Vitara Exports Cross 1 Lakh Milestone

Maruti Suzuki has today announced that the company has crossed the 1 lakh units export milestone for the Jimny 5-door, Fronx and e Vitara to Japan. Sharing this update the automaker shared that Japan has remained the Maruti Suzuki’s second-largest export market by volume, behind its larger export destinations and retained that position during the April-August period of FY2026-27. Maruti Suzuki has also shared that vehicles manufactured in India accounted for nearly all of Suzuki’s vehicle imports into Japan during the financial year.

Out of these three models, the Fronx was the first to be exported to the Japanese market, with exports beginning in August 2024. The Jimny 5-door followed with exports commencing in December 2024 and exports for the e Vitara began in September 2025.

The Jimny 5-door and eVitara are manufactured exclusively in India. The e Vitara is also Maruti Suzuki’s first battery-electric vehicle and is produced in India for international markets.

This export milestone also aligns with the Indian government’s vision of turning India into a global automotive manufacturing hub for the world with the Make-in-India for the world initiative.
