The VLE has been developed as an eight-seater vehicle that combines elements of a sedan-focused ride setup with the space and usability of an MPV. Mercedes-Benz has stated that the VLE will be offered in multiple configurations, aimed at private owners, families and mobility service operators. It will sit below the VLS, which is planned as a lower-seat, chauffeur-focused model.
A teaser image shared by Mercedes-Benz shows that the VLE’s front design is based on the Vision V concept. It features star-shaped daytime running lights within the headlamp units, connected by a light bar across the front. The grille area is enclosed and framed by lighting elements. The overall shape is expected to be closer to the concept, with changes made for series production.
Mercedes-Benz has not released full interior details yet. The VLE is expected to feature a full-width MBUX Hyperscreen running the MB.OS operating system. Seating will be configurable for up to eight occupants, with a focus on flexibility and storage. Higher variants are expected to focus on rear-seat comfort and in-cabin screens, while other versions will prioritise passenger capacity.
The VLE will be the first vehicle to use the new VAN.EA platform, which has been designed to support different electric van body styles and sizes. The platform will be used across future Mercedes-Benz electric vans.
The VLE is expected to be offered with single- and dual-motor setups. Entry versions are expected to produce around 268hp, while higher variants could offer outputs close to 470hp. Battery options are expected to range from 90kWh to 120kWh. Mercedes-Benz has indicated a WLTP range of over 500km for the most efficient versions. The platform will support DC fast charging of up to 350kW using an 800-volt system.
