Mercedes-Maybach S 580e Launched in India: Top 5 Highlights
Mercedes-Benz has launched the Maybach S 580e in India at a starting price of Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). The updated luxury sedan arrives in India just six months after its global debut in March and brings a sharper design, a more advanced cabin and added features for rear-seat passengers.
Key Highlights:
- 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class facelift launched in India at Rs 3.35 crore
- Gets illuminated Maybach grille, new lighting signatures and new alloy wheels
- Cabin features three screens, 43-degree reclining rear seats and smartphone-style rear controls
- Gets a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain
Positioned above the standard S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class continues to focus heavily on chauffeur-driven luxury. Here are the top five highlights of the updated flagship sedan.
1. More Distinctive Maybach Design
The facelifted Maybach S-Class retains its familiar silhouette but gets several styling changes to make it stand out from the regular S-Class. The front now features a larger illuminated grille with vertical slats, while the Maybach lettering above the grille and the Mercedes star on the bonnet can also be illuminated.
The headlamps are larger and get a new three-pointed-star-inspired DRL signature. Rose-gold detailing inside the lights adds to the premium look. The lower air intakes also feature a Maybach-specific mesh design with tiny Maybach logos.
At the rear, the tail-lamps get a matching three-pointed-star lighting signature. New 20-inch and 21-inch forged alloy wheels are also available, while Mercedes-Benz is expanding its MANUFAKTUR personalisation options with additional colours and two-tone paint schemes.
2. Triple-Screen Digital Cabin
The biggest change inside the facelifted Maybach S-Class is its revised dashboard. It now gets a three-screen setup housed beneath a single continuous glass panel.
The setup includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.4-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch front passenger display. The cabin also gets a 31-speaker Burmester high-end 4D sound system. Other luxury features include multi-zone climate control and a refrigerated compartment for the rear passengers.
3. Rear Seats Remain The Main Attraction
As expected from a Maybach, the rear seats continue to be the main focus of the cabin. The executive rear seats can recline by up to 43 degrees and come with heating, ventilation and massage functions. Mercedes-Benz has also replaced the previous tablet-style rear controller with two separate smartphone-style remotes. These can be used to control the seats, climate and entertainment functions.
4. Advanced Safety and Rear-Wheel Steering
The Maybach S-Class continues to offer a long list of active and passive safety features. These include Active Brake Assist, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist and Evasive Steering Assist. The sedan also gets PRE-SAFE technology, adaptive restraint systems and a comprehensive airbag package. Depending on the specification, the S-Class can be equipped with up to 15 airbags.
Another useful feature is rear-axle steering, which can turn the rear wheels by up to 10 degrees. Mercedes-Benz says this can reduce the turning circle by almost two metres, making the large sedan easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces.
5. Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain
The facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is offered with a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. The powertrain is aimed at combining strong performance with improved efficiency and a quieter driving experience.
With the latest facelift, Mercedes-Maybach has focused on making its flagship sedan even more technology-rich while retaining the chauffeur-focused luxury that sets it apart from the standard S-Class.
